  1. 1. Calcium transport in the Pacific oyster, Crassostrea gigas - in a changing environment

    Författare :Kirsikka Sillanpää; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate changes; Ussing chambers; Calcium uptake; Sodium potassium ATPase; Calcium ATPase; Sodium calcium exchanger; Calcium channel; Hemocytes; Mantle epithelium;

    Sammanfattning : Pacific oyster, Crassostrea gigas, is globally one of the most important farmed bivalve species. A prominent features of the C. gigas is the thick CaCO3 shell covering the body of the animal and protecting it from the environment. LÄS MER

    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Na ; K -ATPase; NMDA receptor; ouabain; phosphoproteome; oligomerization; rapid-onset dystonia-parkinsonism; Biologisk fysik; Biological Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Na+,K+-ATPase is one of the most important proteins in the mammalian cell. It creates sodium and potassium gradients which are fundamental for the membrane potential and sodium-dependent secondary active transport. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Imaging studies of cell physiology with particular reference to Na,K-ATPase function

    Författare :Ronnie M Andersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Na; K-ATPase; PKA; PKC; ouabain; cell attachment; Ca2 ; RVD; fluorescence lifetime;

    Sammanfattning : The membrane protein Na,K-ATPase is well known for its critical function of transporting sodium out of the cell and potassium into the cell, thereby creating a fundamental electrochemical gradient upon which several other important cell functions are dependent. In the current study we have investigated novel aspects of Na,K-ATPase function in cell physiology. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Regulation of ion transport in the gastrointestinal tract : aspects of early development

    Författare :Lena Grahnquist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Gastrointestinal transport; early development; ontogeny; ion; sodium; potassium; H ; K -ATPase; Na - K - 2Cl- cotransporter; barium-sensitive potassium channels; Na ; K -; ATPase; dopamine; angiotensin II; glucocorticoids; rat; human;

    Sammanfattning : Ion transport in the gastrointestinal tract is vital for cellular homeostasis and to ensure growth during ontogeny. We have therefore investigated the regulation and maturation of sodium, potassium and hydrogen transport in the gastrointestinal tract. Net jejunal sodium absorption is significantly higher in young as compared to adult rats. LÄS MER

  5. 5. A special role of Na,K-ATPaseand its molecular partners for astrocyte function

    Författare :Nina Illarionova; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Astrocytes are glial cells that express several specific transporters and channels with specialized functions to maintain water, ion and neurotransmitter concentrations in order to preserve normal neuronal function. Astrocytes express two catalytic isoforms of plasma membrane enzyme Sodium Potassium-ATPase (Na,K-ATPase), that are essential for several of astrocyte’s functions. LÄS MER
