  1. 1. Single Phase Active Power Factor Correction Converters - Methods for Optimizing EMI, Performance and Costs

    Författare :Supratim Basu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Antenna Factor; Diode Recovery Time; Harmonic currents; EMI; Quasi Park; Snap Factor; PFC;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, front-end solutions with single-phase power factor correction (PFC) capability are studied. The reduction of current harmonics using various PFC techniques is investigated and related to the EN 61000-3-2 standard. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The hyperosmolar airway : Mechanisms of reduced response to nitric oxide

    Författare :Josephine Hjoberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; 8-Br-cyclic GMP; airway epithelium; airway reactivity; airway smooth muscle; amiloride; epithelium derived relaxing factor; furosemide; hyperosmolarity; hypertonic saline; nitric oxide; SNAP; sodium chloride; sodium nitroprusside; superoxide; tracheal perfusion; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Clinical Physiology; klinisk fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Inhaled nitric oxide (NO) relaxes smooth muscle of the airways and of pulmonary blood vessels and is used to treat lung diseases where the pulmonary vessels are constricted. NO has also been tested as a bronchodilator in asthmatic patients. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Studies of SNAP-25 in regulated membrane fusion : metabolic consequences and tuning of intracellular Ca(2+) dynamics in beta cells

    Författare :Teresa Daraio; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Increased release of insulin is usually regarded as a symptom of metabolic syndrome, contributing to insulin resistance in peripheral organs thus affecting glucose and insulin homeostasis. The existing animal models to address the metabolic syndrome are currently not optimal. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Studies on proteins involved in the molecular regulation of insulin exocytosis

    Författare :Wei Zhang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Actin; ADP; ATP; Ca2 channel; CAPS; beta-cells; CSP; exocytosis; GK rat; insulin; islet; Mint; Munc-18; NSF; PI 4-kinase; PI 4 P; PI 4; 5 P2; alpha-SNAP; SNAP-25; synaptotagmin III; syntaxin; tomosyn; type 2 diabetes mellitus; VAMP-2.;

    Sammanfattning : Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a disease characterized by impaired insulin secretion and insulin resistance. Better understanding of molecular mechanisms of insulin secretion may help to optimize type 2 diabetes management. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The effects of some peptide hormones on osteoblast-like cells : with specific focus on oxytocin and vasopressin

    Författare :Alena Lagumdzija; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :h0B; SaOS-2; OXT; AVP; IGF-I; PTH; PTHrP; eNOSKO;

    Sammanfattning : The nonapeptides oxytocin (OXT) and vasopressin (AVP) are mainly produced in the hypothalamus and released into the circulation through the neurohypophysis. Recently, an OXT-receptor was demonstrated in human osteoblast-like (hOB) cells, and it has been suggested that patients with central diabetes insipidus (deficiency of AVP) have decreased bone mass.
