16. Patterns of small-scale coastal fisheries and local fisheries management in Tanzania : adaptation to a changing climate
Sammanfattning : Coastal habitats like mangroves, seagrass meadows, coral reefs, and adjacent offshore waters constitute an important part of the tropical coastal seascape. They provide conducive environmental conditions for fish and other marine animals, which serve as food and income for coastal communities around the world. LÄS MER
17. Utveckling av skolmiljöer - aktiviteter och mening i småskaligt arbete : Improving school environment - activities and meaning in small scale work
Sammanfattning : Almost every day, Swedish media bring up issues from the school environment. Public and academic research identifies problems in these environments. Knowledge about the school environment is mainly about the conditions in schools. Less is known about how schools could work with changing their environment. LÄS MER
18. Small-scale combustion of agricultural biomass fuels
Sammanfattning : The ambitious targets of the European Union in increasing the use of renewable energies to 20% of Europe’s energy needs, call for urgent changes, including in the biomass sector. The share of solid biomass for heating purposes could be further increased by replacing oil- and gas-fired furnaces with biomass boilers and by expanding the spectrum of biomass raw materials for small-scale combustion systems. 19. Numerical frameworks for small-scale bubble dynamics
Sammanfattning : Designing efficient bubbly flow systems requires the prediction of the dynamics of the bubbles, the liquid and how the gas and liquid phases interact. Currently, the complex dynamics in bubbly flows are not yet fully explained, and we rely on incomplete models in our numerical methods. LÄS MER
20. Safety interventions in Swedish small-scale forestry
Sammanfattning : In private non-industrial forestry, self-employed work has long been associated with high risks for injuries. This thesis is based on four studies that focused on two of the major high-risk activities in this sector in Sweden: two on felling, de-limbing and bucking trees with a chainsaw; and two on off-road use of quad bikes.
