1. Refractory corrosion in biomass gasification
Sammanfattning : To stop the net emission of CO2 to the atmosphere, we need to reduce our dependency of fossil fuels. Although a switch to a bio-based feedstock hardly can replace the total amount of fossils used today, utilization of biomass does still have a role in a future in combination with other techniques. 2. Chloride transport and chloride threshold values : studies on concretes and mortars with Portland cement and limestone blended cement
Sammanfattning : Reinforced concrete is one of the most widely used building materials and if it is properly designed and produced, it is an extremely durable material with a service life up to 100 years. However, under certain environmental conditions the service life of reinforced concrete structures is more limited. LÄS MER
3. Degradation Mechanisms of Heat Resistant Steel at Elevated Temperatures : In an Iron Ore Pelletizing Industry
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the different degradation mechanisms of the stainless steel in a travelling grate in a Grate-Kiln iron ore pellet indurator. The travelling grate is a conveyor belt that transports green-body pellets to a rotary kiln while the pellets are being dried and pre-heated to a temperature of 900-1100 °C by recycled hot air. 4. Assessment of bio-based fuel ash effects on magnesia refractory materials in quicklime production kilns
Sammanfattning : Limestone is calcined into quicklime in lime kilns at temperatures above 1000°C. Heat is supplied through combustion inside the kilns, which are insulated with a lining of refractory bricks to mitigate heat loss and to protect the kiln from the hot, chemically aggressive, and mechanically abrasive environment. 5. Investigations of Chlorine-Induced High Temperature Corrosion of Steels
Sammanfattning : The high corrosivity of the fireside environment in waste and biomass fired boilers is commonly attributed to the presence of chlorine-containing compounds. Chlorine-induced high temperature corrosion is not well understood, however. LÄS MER
