1. Screening immigrant mothers for postpartum depression. Development and feasibility of an educational Intervention for nurses in the child health services
Sammanfattning : Postpartum depression is a major public health problem, which immigrant mothers are at particular risk of being affected by. Routine screening is implemented by many countries to increase identification, but research suggests that health care professionals experience screening of immigrant mothers as challenging. LÄS MER
2. Molecular Portraits of Cancer : Discovery of Biomarker Signatures using Affinity Proteomics
Sammanfattning : The use of antibodies as capture molecules in assays is a common practice. By either printing monoclonal single chain fragment variables (scFvs) on a solid support – recombinant antibody microarray – or attaching them to magnetic beads – Global Proteome Survey (GPS) – we can specifically capture and measure target proteins of interest. 3. Cardiovascular regulation in women with vasovagal syncope : With special reference to the venous system
Sammanfattning : Although vasovagal syncope (VVS) is a common clinical condition the mechanisms behind VVS remain elusive. Upright posture is the major trigger of VVS and lower limb blood pooling affecting cardiac output has been proposed as a major determinant. The overall aim of this thesis was twofold. LÄS MER
4. Mechanisms behind the lipid-lowering effects of ACTH - Studies in different experimental models
Sammanfattning : Abstract Adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) has strong and direct lipid-lowering effects in man. All apoB-containing lipoproteins, i.e. VLDL, LDL, Lp(a), are reduced by 25-30%. LÄS MER
5. Regulation of TNF-alpha : implications for health and disease
Sammanfattning : Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) is a proinflammatory cytokine, which is implicated in some metabolic disorders and may play a role in the development of cardiovascular disease. When healthy 50-year-old men were studied, the plasma TNF-alpha concentration was associated with systolic and diastolic blood pressure, degree of alimentary lipaemia, plasma VLDL triglyceride and LDL cholesterol concentrations, peak LDL particle size and all measured cell adhesion molecules.
