  1. 1. Evaluation of hand skin temperature : Infrared thermography in combination with cold stress tests

    Författare :Katarina Leijon Sundqvist; Niklas Lehto; James Mercer; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cold provocation; rewarming; thermoregulation; dynamic IR thermography; Health Science; Hälsovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : AbstractSince ancient times, warm or cold skin on the human body has been used as a parameter in evaluating health. Changes in body temperature are attributed to diseases or disorders. The assessment of body temperature is often performed to measure fever by detecting an elevated core temperature. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Swedish operating room nurses preventive interventions to reduce bacterial growth, surgical site infections, and increase comfort in patients undergoing surgery

    Författare :Camilla Wistrand; Ulrica Nilsson; Bo Söderquist; Karin Falk-Brynhildsen; Tor Monsen; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; skin disinfection; patient experience; skin temperature; intra-operative; surgical site infection; bacterial growth; recolonization;

    Sammanfattning : Surgical site infection is a major postoperative complication that causes patient suffering and is costly for society. The general aim of this thesis was to test and describe interventions performed by operating room (OR) nurses to prevent bacterial growth in surgical patients, with the intent to prevent surgical site infections (SSIs) whilst increase patients comfort. 3. 3. Physiological properties of unmyelinated low-threshold tactile (CT) afferents in the human hairy skin

    Författare :Katarina Wiklund Fernström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Human; microneurography; mechanoafferent; unmyelinated; sensory; touch; temperature; capsaicin;

    Sammanfattning : For more than a decade it has been known that human skin is supplied with a system of slowly conducting unmyelinated afferents that respond strongly to innocuous skin deformation (Nordin, 1990; Vallbo et al., 1993). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Laser Doppler Flowmetry and Imaging: Methodological Studies

    Författare :Siv Bornmyr; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; digital photography.; cold intolerance; sympathetic nervous system; flow cessation external pressure; skin temperature; thermography; skin blood flow; laser doppler imaging; Laser doppler flowmetry; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Sammanfattning : Laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) and laser Doppler imaging (LDI) are modern methods for non-invasive and continuous assessment of skin blood flow. The techniques are based on the phenomenon that monochromatic light transilluminating a perfused tissue is spectrally broadened owing to scattering by moving blood cells. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Skin circulation measured by fluorescein flowmetry

    Författare :Eduardo Patricio Proaño Romero; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Skin circulation;

    Sammanfattning : Fluorescein flowmetry (FF) is an indicator dilution technique using sodium fluorescein as an indicator. If the tissue is illuminated with U-V light or blue light, after a bolus injection of the dye, fluorescence is seen in the tissue, and can be measured either photographically or by the video technique.
