16. Chondrocyte-matrix interactions: with emphasis on the collagen binding integrin a10ß1
Sammanfattning : The work in this thesis has been focused on chondrocyte integrins and their interaction with the matrix proteins chondroadherin (CHAD) and collagen type II (CII). Affinity purification of CHAD-binding proteins from chondrocyte lysate, followed by immunoprecipitation of EDTA-eluted material identified alpha2beta1 as a CHAD-binding integrin. LÄS MER
17. Development and application of strategies for the analysis of modification patterns in chondroitin and dermatan sulphate
Sammanfattning : Chondroitin (CS) and dermatan sulphate (DS) are socalled glycosaminoglycans (GAG) that are covalently attached to various type of proteins forming a subgroup within the diverse proteoglycan (PG) family. The PGs studied in this thesis are mostly extracellularly located and include aggrecan, biglycan and decorin. LÄS MER
18. T cells in Autoimmunity: studies on murine type II collagen-induced arthritis
Sammanfattning : Collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) is a mouse model for rheumatoid arthritis, in which autoimmunity is induced by immunization with type II collagen (CII), a cartilage-specific protein. In the present work, alpha/beta T cells were shown to be required for CIA and for the production of anti-CII IgG antibodies, whereas gamma/delta T cells were neither necessary nor sufficient for development of CIA. 19. Inflammatory Response in Peripheral Arterial Disease
Sammanfattning : Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is the manifestation of atherosclerotic lesions in arteries supplying blood to the legs. Atherosclerosis is now recognized as an inflammatory disease of the vessel wall and important features in the pathophysiology are activation of WBC, endothelial cells and increased levels of inflammatory mediators. 20. CHRONIC MUSCULOSKELETAL PAIN. Population studies of pain-experience with special focus on the Total Body Pain and aspects of adaptation in a cognitive-behavior psychological frame of reference
Sammanfattning : Musculoskeletal pain-related vocational dysfunction is a major public health problem. The solution is beyond the scope of biomedicine, but the problem could well be analyzed in the complementary, cognitive-behavior psychological frame of reference. LÄS MER
