1. Urban building energy modeling : A systematic evaluation of modeling and simulation approaches
Sammanfattning : Urban energy system planning can play a pivotal role in the transition of urban areas towards energy efficiency and carbon neutrality. With the building sector being one of the main components of the urban energy system, there is a great opportunity for improving energy efficiency in cities if the spatio-temporal patterns of energy use in the building sector are accurately identified. 2. Applied Modeling of Moisture Phenomena in Concrete
Sammanfattning : This thesis contains new and improved calculation models, based on applied research merging numerical modeling and material research, in the areas of hydration and chemical binding of water, sorption of moisture and transport of moisture in concrete. The proposed model for hydration and chemical binding of water is based on general kinetics modeling and calculates degree of hydration directly, without using of equivalent time of maturity. LÄS MER
3. Modeling Complex Engines as Dynamic Powertrain Members
Sammanfattning : Engine modeling and simulation have been necessary tools for efficient product development in the automotive industry for some time. The scope of this work is novel engine models, tools, and methods for powertrain research and development. LÄS MER
4. Modeling of Wind Turbines for Power System Studies
Sammanfattning : The power quality impact of wind turbines on the electric grid and the response of the wind turbines to faults in the electric grid are investigated in this thesis. A detailed model of a stall-regulated, fixed-speed wind turbine system capable of predicting the flicker impact on the connected grid is presented and compared with field measurements. LÄS MER
5. The Core of Aerial Robotic Workers : Generalized Modeling, Estimation, and Control
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we are going to explore what the operational core, both mathematically and algorithmically, of an Aerial Robotic Worker consists of, in order to estimate its egomotion and parameters, and adaptively control the aerial vehicle. Moreover, the aim of this thesis is to be a condensed reference for the corresponding areas of aerial robotics, in order to provide a stable and complete foundation on which one can continue research on.
