   Sammanfattning : The Well-Situated Girl is the first academic study of the history of Swedish Girl Scouting. Through a qualitative and interpretive method, which has its methodological home in the hermeneutic tradition, and with theoretical inspiration from Simone de Beauvoir’s work The Second Sex the aim of the thesis is to conceptualize Girl Scouting as girls’ and women’s history.    Sammanfattning : A departing assumption in my work is the idea about a particular kind of conflict inherent in the theatrical line, produced by its situatedness in the specific relational doubt created in the speaking, performing voice and body, a space articulated already in the written line, as writing intended to be spoken. To the inherent self-contradiction in such utterances are added the layers of conscious and unconscious intent, discrepancies and dissonances emerging in relation to those who witness the act of speaking.    Sammanfattning : The main aim of this thesis is to explore young women’s lived experience of the body, which, on one hand, is viewed as deviant – the disabled body – and, on the other hand, is viewed as accomplished – the sporting body. The questions posed in the thesis are the following: how do the young women handle the two subject positions that emerge as a result of the perception of them as respectively deviant and accomplished, which forms of femininity are available to them and what are the strategies of resistance they develop.
