16. Natural course and long-term prognosis in idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus - the effect of delayed surgery and clinical factors on outcome and survival
Sammanfattning : Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, iNPH, causes gait and balance difficulties, urinary incontinence and cognitive decline in mainly older persons and is treatable by insertion of a cerebrospinal fluid diverting shunt. The effects of postponing treatment in these patients have have been largely unknown and the benefits of treatment in the long-term, mortality and causes of death have not been reported in any large cohort of patients. 17. Interventions for portal hypertension in patients with portal vein occlusion and possible effects of a stent-graft on hepatic circulation
Sammanfattning : Symptomatic portal hypertension (PH), is often treated by transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS). Patients with PH, caused by prehepatic portal vein occlusion, require recanalization with stent or stent-graft often followed by additional TIPS. LÄS MER
18. Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus : Cerebrospinal Fluid Tap Test and Magnetic Resonance Imaging as Preoperative Prognostic Investigations
Sammanfattning : Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) is a condition with dilated cerebral ventricles but intracranial pressure within normal limits. The symptoms of gait impairment, cognitive decline and urinary incontinence develop gradually. Treatment with shunt insertion results in improvement in eight out of ten patients. LÄS MER
19. Adult hydrocephalus. Intracranial pressure, B-wave and clinical analysis in patients with noncommunicating and communicating hydrocephalus
Sammanfattning : Aims of present investigations. Adult patients with clinical and radiological findings consistent with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) were studied. LÄS MER
20. Evaluation and development of a capnodynamic method for estimation of pulmonary blood flow in a porcine model
Sammanfattning : Effective pulmonary blood flow (EPBF) i.e. cardiac output (CO) minus shunt flow could be estimated by a capnodynamic equation. Via introduction of short pauses in the ventilatory pattern the required alterations of carbon dioxide are induced. LÄS MER
