  1. 1. Development and evaluation of methods for control and modelling of multiple-input multiple-output systems

    Författare :Fredrik Bengtsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Input-output scaling; Modeling; Fiber length; Tensile Index; Hold-input; Decentralized control; Gramian based measures; Delays; LQG control; TMP; Uncertain data sets; Unreliable communication links; MIMO systems; Control configuration selection; Linear regression; Freeness; Shives; CTMP;

    Sammanfattning : In control, a common type of system is the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system, where the same input may affect multiple outputs, or conversely, the same output is affected by multiple inputs. In this thesis two methods for controlling MIMO systems are examined, namely linear quadratic Gaussian (LQG) control and decentralized control, and some of the difficulties associated with them. 2. 2. Quality Control of a Newsprint TMP Refining Process based on Refining Zone Temperature Measurements

    Författare :David Sikter; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; temperature profile; quality control; usability; economy; TMP refining;

    Sammanfattning : The ultimate goal of this study was to examine the possibility of using temperature measurements for control purposes in a TMP refining process. The study was carried out in a commercial refiner line at Holmen Paper’s Hallsta Mill, were the primary stage refiner was equipped with temperature sensors. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Improved Usage of Wood Raw Material through Modification of the Kraft Process

    Författare :Daniel Tavast; Elisabet Brännvall; Mikael Lindström; Martin Lawoko; Kerstin Forsberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; kraft process; impregnation; xylan; spruce; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning :    The kraft process is a complex system with many variables, and though the process is fairly well understood, there is still much we do not know.    This thesis examines some aspects of the kraft process that could prove to be of interest for the pulp and paper industry, specifically, the impact of wood chip impregnation and of the chemical structure of xylan on spruce kraft pulp. 4. 4. Low consistency refining of mechanical pulp : process conditions and energy efficiency

    Författare :Stefan Andersson; Per Engstrand; Christer Sandberg; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mechanical pulping; low consistency refining; energy efficiency; rotor position; plate gap; fibre concentration;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis is focussed on low consistency (LC) refining of mechanical pulp. Theresearch included evaluations of energy efficiency, development of pulpproperties, the influence of fibre concentration on LC refining and effects of rotorposition in a two-zoned LC refiner. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Improved energy efficiency in double disc chip refining

    Författare :Dino Muhic; Per Engstrand; Lars Sundström; Mats Ullmar; Christer Sandberg; Hans Höglund; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermomechanical pulping TMP ; double disc refining; high intensity; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The electrical energy consumption in thermomechanical pulping (TMP) is very high, in the range of 2 – 3 MWh/adt depending on process solution and on the product quality specifications for the paper product. Both pulpwood and energy prices have increased rapidly for some time. LÄS MER
