1. Modelling of Turbulent Flow and Heat Transfer for Building Ventilation
Sammanfattning : This thesis contributes to studies on the assessment of building ventilation performance and the development of turbulence models accounting for Low-Reynolds-number (LRN) effects and buoyant convection with heat transfer. Assessments of building ventilation performance are discussed with respect to indoor air distribution and passive contaminant dispersion. LÄS MER
2. Analysis of Flow Structures in Wake Flows for Train Aerodynamics
Sammanfattning : Train transportation is a vital part of the transportation system of today anddue to its safe and environmental friendly concept it will be even more impor-tant in the future. The speeds of trains have increased continuously and withhigher speeds the aerodynamic effects become even more important. LÄS MER
3. Sustainable building ventilation solutions with heat recovery from waste heat
Sammanfattning : The energy used by building sector accounts for approximately 40% of the total energy usage. In residential buildings, 30-60% of this energy is used for space heating which is mainly wasted by transmission heat losses. A share of 20-30% is lost by the discarded residential wastewater and the rest is devoted to ventilation heat loss. LÄS MER
4. Explicit algebraic subgrid-scale stress and passive scalar flux modeling in large eddy simulation
Sammanfattning : The present thesis deals with a number of challenges in the field of large eddy simulation (LES). These include the performance of subgrid-scale (SGS) models at fairly high Reynolds numbers and coarse resolutions, passive scalar and stochastic modeling in LES. LÄS MER
5. Numerical study on flow and pollutant dispersion inside street canyons
Sammanfattning : This thesis analyzes the characteristics of flow pattern and vehicle-emitted pollutant dispersion in roughness surface layer. In an urban environment, wind flow and transported-pollutant source interfere strongly with buildings and other roughness elements on the surface ground, which results in complex characteristics of flow pattern and pollutant dispersion in 3D circumstances.
