1. Uncovering a Novel Pathway for Autoinflammation : With a Little Help from a Wrinkled Friend
Sammanfattning : A major challenge in medical genetics is to identify the mutations underlying heritable diseases. Dogs are excellent genetic models in the search for causative mutations, as they constitute a large library of naturally occurring heritable diseases many of which are analogous to those suffered by man. 2. Complications after total hip arthroplasty : register-based studies on surgical approach and infections
Sammanfattning : Background: The often excellent outcome of total hip arthroplasty (THA) is sometimes compromised by prosthesis related complications. There is an ongoing debate regarding the effect of surgical approach on prosthesis related complications and patient reported outcome. LÄS MER
3. Acetabular Revisions. Risk Factors and Prediction of Re-revision
Sammanfattning : Hip replacement is a successful intervention when treating patients with hip osteoarthritis. Approximately 10% of all patients undergoing primary hip replacement surgery require further surgical interventions (revisions) during their lifetime. Acetabular component (cup) failure is the most common reason for a revision. LÄS MER
4. Periprosthetic femoral fracture after total hip replacement. Incidence, risk factors, and treatment
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the incidence of surgically treated periprosthetic femoral fractures (PPFF) in Sweden between 2001 and 2011, the demography of this population, risk factors that may contribute to its occurrence and the treatment of these fractures. All four studies in this thesis are observational and are based primarily on material from the Swedish Hip Arthroplasty Register (SHAR) database. LÄS MER
5. Fast-track programs in total hip and knee replacement at Swedish hospitals - influences on safety, outcome and patients' experiences
Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Background Fast-track is a care concept that aims to enhance recovery after surgery, resulting in shortened perioperative hospital stay. By using evidence-based methods in preparation and perioperative care the clinical pathway and care process is optimized to achieve early discharge from hospital based on functional criteria. LÄS MER
