21. Risk and Rationality : Effects of contextual risk and cognitive dissonance on (sexual) incentives
Sammanfattning : Paper [I] theoretically analyzes how the level and uncertainty of future prospects affect incentives to abstain from sexual risk taking in the presence of HIV. The results suggest that, for individuals with limited access to HIV treatment, uncertainty of future health may be an important factor driving unsafe sex practices and support the empirical finding of a weak link between sexual behavior, HIV prevalence, and HIV knowledge in poor countries; therefore suggesting that AIDS policy needs to be calibrated in order to fit within different social contexts. 22. Exploring patterns of empirical networks
Sammanfattning : We are constantly struggling to understand how nature works, trying to identify recurrent events and looking for analogies and relations between objects or individuals. Knowing patterns of behavior is powerful and fundamental for survival of any species. LÄS MER
23. Appetite-regulating peptides and natural rewards: emphasis on ghrelin and glucagon-like peptide-1
Sammanfattning : Evolutionary conserved natural behaviors, such as foraging and sexual behaviors, are strongly associated with reward processes. Brain areas important for reward processes include, but are not limited to, the nucleus accumbens (NAc) shell, the ventral tegmental area (VTA), the laterodorsal tegmental area (LDTg) and the nucleus of the solitary tract (NTS). 24. Evolutionary consequences of ecological interactions
Sammanfattning : Eco-evolutionary dynamics integrates the reciprocal interactions betweenecology and evolution. These two branches of biology traditionally assumethe other as static for simplicity. However, increasing evidence shows thatthis simplification may not always hold because ecology and evolution canoperate in similar timescales. LÄS MER
