  1. 11. Endogenous sex hormones and cardiometabolic risk factors – population-based studies within the Skaraborg Project

    Författare :Kristin Ottarsdottir; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Sex hormones; sex hormone binding globulin; cardiometabolic risk factors; insulin resistance; post-menopause; cardiovascular diseases;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular diseases are the major contributors to mortality in Sweden and globally. Men have a higher incidence of cardiovascular diseases compared to women, until women reach the menopause. Levels of sex hormones might explain these sex differences beyond known differences in risk factors. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Forty years ago, more than 90% of bird species were classified as monogamous and not very exciting systems for studies of e.g. sexual selection. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Gender inequity in child survival : travails of the girl child in rural north India

    Sammanfattning : Background: While substantial progress has been made globally towards achieving United Nations Millennium Development Goal 4 (MDG 4) on child mortality, the decline is not sufficient to reach the targets set for 2015. The South Asian region, which includes India, was to achieve the MDG 4 target of 39 deaths per 1000 live births by 2015 but was estimated to have reached only 61 by 2011. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : In this study I have investigated the various factors influencing reproductive tactics among breeding blue tits (Parus caeruleus). The study was carried out in a nestbox-breeding population of marked individuals at the Revinge Area, outside Lund, southern Sweden. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Causes and treatment of chronic respiratory failure : experience of a national register

    Sammanfattning : Long-term oxygen therapy (LTOT) or home mechanical ventilation (HMV) can improve survival time in chronic respiratory failure. A national quality register could be an aid to identifying risk markers and optimizing therapy for respiratory failure. LÄS MER
