1. Primary immunodeficiency in southern Sweden. Strategies for diagnosis and clinical management
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this PhD project was to gain insight into the incidence of primary immunodeficiency (PID) in southern Sweden and to optimize diagnostic and treatment measures for these patients. 2. Models for infections in immunodeficiency
Sammanfattning : Increased susceptibility to infections in immunodeficient patients is a well-known phenomenon. The spectrum of infections reflects the underlying defect. Experimental infections in mouse strains with different types of defined immunodeficiencies allow studying the course of infectious diseases in immunocompromised hosts. LÄS MER
3. Studies on hereditary C2 deficiency: Frequent occurrence of severe infections, atherosclerosis and rheumatological manifestations
Sammanfattning : The complement system is a part of the innate immunity and is essential in the defence against microorganisms. Hereditary C2 deficiency (C2D) is one of the most common complement deficiency states with an estimated prevalence of 1:20,000 in persons of Western descent. LÄS MER
4. Newborn screening for severe primary immunodeficiencies
Sammanfattning : Primary immunodeficiencies (PID) are congenital disorders of immune competence, which are mainly characterized by a pathological susceptibility to infection. This is often accompanied by severe recurrent infections with drug-resistant, long progressions. LÄS MER
5. Thymus dysfunction in the 22q11 deletion syndrome
Sammanfattning : Introduction: The 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (22q11DS) is associated with heterogeneous clinical findings, including T-cell immunodeficiency resulting from thymus hypoplasia. LÄS MER
