  1. 1. On Spectrum Sensing for Secondary Operation in Licensed Spectrum : Blind Sensing, Sensing Optimization and Traffic Modeling

    Författare :Mohamed Hamid; Ben Slimane Slimane; Niclas Björsell; Octavia Dobre; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cognitive Radio; Spectrum Sensing; Sensing Optimization; Blind Sensing; Traffic Modelling; Energy detection; Maximumum-minimum Eigenvalue Detection; Discriminant anlysis; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology;

    Sammanfattning : There has been a recent explosive growth in mobile data consumption. This, in turn, imposes many challenges for mobile services providers and regulators in many aspects. One of these primary challenges is maintaining the radio spectrum to handle the current and upcoming expansion in mobile data traffic. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Inverse and optimization problems in electromagnetics -- a finite-element method perspective

    Författare :JOHAN WINGES; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; microwave measurements; computational electromagnetics; finite element method; optimization; inductive power transfer; compressed sensing; wireless power; brick-tetrahedron hybrid; parameter estimation; inverse problems;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, a selection of inverse and optimization problems are studied where the finite element method (FEM) serves as a comprehensive tool to solve electromagnetic field problems that lack an analytic solution. The inverse problems are typically formulated in terms of an optimization problem where the misfit between a measurement and the corresponding result of a computational model is minimized. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Urban Change Detection Using Multitemporal SAR Images

    Författare :Osama Yousif; Yifang Ban; Lorenzo Bruzzone; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Change detection; High resolution; Image denoising; Kittler-Illingworth; MAP-MRF; Multitemporal SAR images; Nonlocal means; Object-based; Otsu; Outlier detection; Remote sensing; SAR speckle; Urban; Geodesy and Geoinformatics; Geodesi och geoinformatik;

    Sammanfattning : Multitemporal SAR images have been increasingly used for the detection of different types of environmental changes. The detection of urban changes using SAR images is complicated due to the complex mixture of the urban environment and the special characteristics of SAR images, for example, the existence of speckle. Sammanfattning : Automated vehicles (AV) are expected to reach the consumer market within the next decade. Once AVs become ubiquitous, they could resolve difficult traffic situations through communication-based cooperation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. On Finding Spectrum Opportunities in Cognitive Radios : Spectrum Sensing and Geo-locations Database

    Författare :Mohamed Hamid; Ben Slimane; Niclas Björsell; Muhammad Imadua Rahman; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; COgnitive Radio; Dynamic Spectrum Access; Spectrum Opportunity; Spectrum Sensing; GEo-locations database;

    Sammanfattning : The spectacular growth in wireless services imposes scarcity in term of the available radio spectrum. A solution to overcome this scarcity is to adopt what so called cognitive radio based on dynamic spectrum access. LÄS MER
