  1. 1. Fluxes of Sensible and Latent Heat and Carbon Dioxide in the Marine Atmospheric Boundary Layer

    Författare :Erik Sahlée; Ann-Sofi Smedman; Anna Rutgersson; Sören Larsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Meteorology; Sensible heat flux; Latent heat flux; Carbon dioxide; Turbulent exchange; Global heat fluxes; Marine boundary layer; Air-sea interaction; Meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Oceans cover about 70% of the earth’s surface. They are the largest source of the atmospheric water vapour and act as enormous heat reservoirs. Thus in order to predict the future weather and climate it is of great importance to understand the processes governing the exchange of water vapour and heat between the ocean and atmosphere. 2. 2. Land surface heat exchange over snow and frozen soil

    Författare :David Gustafsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; Surface energy balance; Snow; Boreal forest; SVAT models; Eddy-correlation Measurements; Latent heat flux; Sensible heat flux; Net radiation; Soil temperature; Aerodynamic roughness; Surface resistance; Civil engineering and architecture; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur;

    Sammanfattning : The energy exchange in the soil-snow-vegetation-atmospheresystem was studied to improve the quantitative knowledge of thegoverning processes. The lack of such knowledge contributes tothe uncertainty in the applicability of many existing modelsindependent of the temporal or spatial scale. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Implementation and Analysis of Air-Sea Exchange Processes in Atmosphere and Ocean Modelling

    Författare :Björn Carlsson; Anna Rutgersson; Ann-Sofi Smedman; Öyvind Saetra; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sensible heat flux; Latent heat flux; Momentum flux; Wind stress; Marine boundary layer; Air–Sea interaction; Swell; Climate model; Ocean model; Roughness parameter; Drag coefficient; Wave breaking; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : To understand and to predict the weather and climate, numerical models are important tools and it is crucial that the controlling processes are described correctly. Since 70% of the global surface is covered with water the description how the ocean and atmosphere communicates has a considerable impact. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Evaporation and Heat-flux Aggregation in Heterogeneous Boreal Landscapes

    Författare :Tony Persson; Sven Halldin; Dimitris Melas; Deliang Chen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydrology; land-surface processes; heterogeneity; surface fluxes; soil-water content; high latitudes; snow; lakes; climate; mesoscale model; NOPEX; WINTEX; Hydrologi; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : The boreal forests represent 8 % of all forested areas on the earth and have a significant role in the control of greenhouse gases and an impact on global climate change. The main objective of this thesis is to increase the understanding of how evaporation and heat-flux processes in the boreal forest zone are affecting the regional and global climate. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The exchange of sensible and latent heat over the sea

    Författare :Erik Sahlée; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Boundary-layer; Air-sea interaction; turbulent fluxes; parameterization; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Analysis of the neutral exchange coefficients for latent and sensible heat, CEN and CHN, based on measurements from the Östergarnsholms site in the Baltic Sea has been made. The data set used for the CHN study was based on the very accurate MIUU-instrument. LÄS MER
