    Sammanfattning : Jahai, a language belonging to the Aslian branch of the Mon-Khmer language family, is spoken by a group of about 1,000 hunter-gatherers in the montane rainforests of northern Peninsular Malaysia.     Sammanfattning : This work is a study of verbal semantics with a focus on the discussion and illustration of the role of body parts and the semantic incorporation into verbal roots of the actions that involve various body parts. Following a general discussion of the basic issues of language construction and human body actions with the image schemas of force-dynamics presented in line with the framework of cognitive semantics, it is argued that the event structures of physical action verbs are not arbitrarily constructed but rather the constructions are built through systematic cognitive processes in relation to both human physical reality and concrete reality in the world.     Sammanfattning : The title of this thesis translates as "Elis Eriksson: Objects and Signs" and concerns the life and work of the Swedish artist Elis Eriksson (1906-2006) as analysed from a semiotic point of view. The semiotic theory applied in the thesis is to be regarded as a theory of cultural semiotics or socio-semiotics, explicitly critical towards the rigid application of linguistic models so often associated with semiotic studies in the human sciences.
