1. Plasma assisted low temperature semiconductor wafer bonding
Sammanfattning : Direct semiconductor wafer bonding has emerged as a technology to meet the demand foradditional flexibility in materials integration. The applications are found in microelectronics, optoelectronics and micromechanics. For instance, wafer bonding is used to produce silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafers. LÄS MER
2. Optical spectroscopy of InGaAs quantum dots
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis deals with optical studies of semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) in the InGaAs material system. It is shown that for self-assembled InAs QDs, the interaction with the surrounding GaAs barrier and the InAs wetting layer (WL) in particular, has a very large impact on their optical properties. 3. Novel Layered and 2D Materials for Functionality Enhancement of Contacts and Gas Sensors
Sammanfattning : Chemical gas sensors are widely-used electronic devices for detecting or measuring the density levels of desired gas species. In this study, materials with established or potential applications for gas sensors are treated. LÄS MER
4. Focused Ion Beam Preparation and Transmission Electron Microscopy of Materials for Energy Applications
Sammanfattning : Throughout this thesis, samples of various materials with applications in energy converting devices have been prepared by focused ion beam machining and investigated by transmission electron microscopy. Energy converting devices can be solar cells or light emitting diodes, which turn light into electricity or vice versa. LÄS MER
5. Computational Modelling of Organic Bioelectronic Devices and Materials
Sammanfattning : Bioelectronics being the intersection field between electronics and biology, aims to investigate the transduction between electronic signals and ionic signals within a biological environment. Organic materials such as conducting polymers are extensively utilized in the fabrication and development of bioelectronic devices due to their ability to conduct both electrons and ions. LÄS MER
