21. Weichselian glaciations in the middle Notec River region, northwest Poland
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents results of studies on the ice flow pattern and ice movement mechanism during the Weichselian glaciations in the middle Notec River area, NW Poland. A new lithostratigraphy of the study area has been established, based on correlation of stratigraphical position, clast lithology, fabrics and grain size composition of till units. LÄS MER
22. Dead-Ice Under Different Climate Conditions: Processes, Landforms, Sediments and Melt Rates in Iceland and Svalbard
Sammanfattning : Modern dead-ice environments in the glacier forefields of Brúarjökull, Iceland and Holmströmbreen, Svalbard were investigated with focus on landform and sediment genesis, as well as quantification of melting. Field monitoring and studies of multi-temporal aerial photographs, satellite imagery, and Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) provided data for the melting quantification. LÄS MER
23. Problems of stratigraphic correlation across the Arctic Ocean
Sammanfattning : Published articles on Arctic Ocean sedimentation rates generally falls into two categories; one suggesting mm/ka-scale sedimentation rates in the Amerasian Basin and the other cm/ka-scale rates in the Eurasian Basin. This is due to the interpretation of the first measured paleomagnetic polarity change in sediment cores as either the Brunhes-Matuyama (781 ka) reversal or as the short time magnetic excursion, Biwa II (220 ka) within the Brunhes Chron. 24. Constraining the Southern Part of the Greenland Ice Sheet since the Last Glacial Maximum from Relative Sea-Level Changes, Cosmogenic Dates and Glacial-Isostatic Adjustment Models
Sammanfattning : New results are presented from the investigation of relative sea-level changes in the Nanortalik and Qaqortoq-Narsarsuaq areas in SW Greenland from c. 11 000 cal. years BP to the present. LÄS MER
25. In the wake of deglaciation - sedimentary signatures of ice-sheet decay and sea-level change : Studies from south-central Sweden and the western Arctic Ocean
Sammanfattning : Lacustrine and marine sedimentary archives help unravel details concerning the withdrawal of large ice sheets and resulting sea-level changes during the last deglaciation (22 -11 kyr). In a series of four manuscripts, this PhD thesis investigates the sedimentological signatures from deglacial processes at three key locations in the northern hemisphere: (i) Lake Vättern (LV) in south-central Sweden, (ii) Herald Canyon (HC) in the western Chukchi Sea, and (iii) Mackenzie Trough (MT) on the westernmost edge of the Canadian Beaufort Shelf.
