  1. 1. Applications of ocean transport modelling

    Författare :Hanna Corell; Kristofer Döös; Björn Kjerfve; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ocean transport modelling; connectivity; particle-tracking; sediment transport; Forsmark; marine protected areas; MPA; stream functions; heat flux; wind forcing; Carcinus maenas; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : The advective motion of seawater governs the transport of almost everything, animate or inanimate, present in the ocean and those lacking the ability to outswim the currents have to follow the flow. This makes modelling of advective ocean transports a powerful tool in various fields of science where a displacement of something over time is studied. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Sediment transport from source to sink in the Lake Baikal basin : Impacts of hydroclimatic change and mining

    Författare :Jan Pietroń; Jerker Jarsjö; Enrica Viparelli; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; sediment transport; human impact; hydroclimatic change; surface mining; metal-enriched sediment; Lake Baikal; the Selenga River; the Selenga Delta; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Different magnitude, intensity and timing of precipitation can impact runoff, hillslope erosion and transport of sediment along river channels.  Human activities, such as dam construction and surface mining can also considerably influence transport of sediment and sediment-bound contaminants. 3. 3. Sediment sources and transport pathways, Lithuanian coastal zone

    Författare :Milda Kairytè; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; sediment; grain size; mineralogy; Lithuania; coastal zone; provenance; geology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents an investigation of recent sediments of the Lithuanian coastal zone, SE Baltic Sea. The main focus is upon the detailed documentation of grain size and mineralogy and the development of analytical methods using these essential and most common sediment parameters. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Waterborne sediment and pollutant transport into lakes and accumulation in lake sediments

    Författare :Gull Olli; Gia Destouni; Ingmar Renberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Catchment; environmental projects; erosion; eutrophication; phosphorous transport and retention; soil transport; sediment accumulation; Physical geography; Naturgeografi; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : The general objective of this thesis is to contribute to the knowledge of the transport of sediments and pollutants from catchments to downstream water recipient systems and their accumulation in these systems, such as lakes and lake sediments. One part of the thesis studies the importance of drainage reach morphology and water flow for the phosphorous (P) transport and retention in the reaches, and the main controlling processes of the P retention in the reach sediments. 5. 5. Field Measurements and Predictions of River Flow, Sediment Transport and Morphological Changes

    Författare :Qiancheng Xie; Staffan Lundström; James Yang; J. Gunnar I. Hellström; Anders G. Andersson; Nils Ruther; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Alluvial river; Sediment transport; Morphological change; Meandering; Confluence-diffluence; River training; Field measurements; Numerical simulations; Physical model tests; Machine learning; Alluvial flod; Sedimenttransport; Morfologisk förändring; Slingrande; Konfluens-diffluens; Flodträning; Fältmätningar; Numeriska simuleringar; Fysiska modellprov; Maskininlärning; Strömningslära; Fluid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : In an alluvial lowland river, sediment is transported in the form of suspended and bed loads. The fluvial process is the macroscopic view and long-term consequence of sediment movement. LÄS MER
