  1. 1. Models and Complexity Results in Real-Time Scheduling Theory

    Författare :Pontus Ekberg; Wang Yi; Alberto Marchetti-Spaccamela; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Real-time systems; Scheduling theory; Task models; Computational complexity; Datavetenskap med inriktning mot inbyggda system; Computer Science with specialization in Embedded Systems;

    Sammanfattning : When designing real-time systems, we want to prove that they will satisfy given timing constraints at run time. The main objective of real-time scheduling theory is to analyze properties of mathematical models that capture the temporal behaviors of such systems. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Radiation Therapy Patient Scheduling: An Operations Research Approach

    Författare :Sara Frimodig; Per Enqvist; Jan Kronqvist; Mats Carlsson; Willem-Jan van Hoeve; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Radiation therapy scheduling; patient scheduling; multi-appointment scheduling; operations research; integer programming; constraint programming; column generation; Schemaläggning; strålterapi; operationsanalys; heltalsprogrammering; villkorsprogrammering; kolumngenerering; Optimeringslära och systemteori; Optimization and Systems Theory;

    Sammanfattning : The manual scheduling of patients for radiation therapy is difficult and labor-intensive. With the increase in cancer patient numbers, efficient resource planning is an important tool to achieve short waiting times and equal right to care. This thesis studies an operations research approach to the radiation therapy scheduling problem. 3. 3. A model of contextual factors and inter-organizational integration : A Ground Theory study of two supply chains

    Författare :Hana Hulthén; Dag Näslund; Helena Forslund; Teknisk logistik; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Inter-organizational integration; contingency theory; grounded theory; contextual factors; Logistics; Logistik; Logistics; Logistik; supply chain integration; inter-organizational integration; structural contingency theory; grounded theory; contextual factors; fit;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis is to contribute to understanding of the effect of organizational context on supply chain integration. One result is a context- based model that can provide support for practitioners regarding what level of integration to establish with suppliers and customers. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Resource Allocation under Uncertainty : Applications in Mobile Communications

    Författare :Mathias Johansson; Anders Ahlén; Mikael Sternad; Vikram Krishnamurthy; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; resource allocation; uncertainty; probability theory as logic; scheduling; multiuser diversity; Jaynes; maximum entropy; Bayesian probability theory; Signalbehandling; Signal processing; Signalbehandling; Signal Processing; signalbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with scheduling the use of resources, or allocating resources, so as to meet future demands for the entities produced by the resources. We consider applications in mobile communications such as scheduling users' transmissions so that the amount of transmitted information is maximized, and scenarios in the manufacturing industry where the task is to distribute work among production units so as to minimize the number of missed orders. 5. 5. Methods and Applications in Integer Programming : All-Integer Column Generation and Nurse Scheduling

    Författare :Elina Rönnberg; Torbjörn Larsson; Fredrik Altenstedt; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; integer programming; column generation; set partitioning problems; quasi-integrality; nurse scheduling; Optimization; systems theory; Optimeringslära; systemteori;

    Sammanfattning : Integer programming can be used to provide solutionsto complex decision and planning problems occurring in a wide varietyof situations. Applying integer programming to a real life problembasically involves a first phase where a mathematical model isconstructed, and a second phase where the problem described by themodel is solved.
