11. Solving the quantum scattering problem for systems of two and three charged particles
Sammanfattning : A rigorous formalism for solving the Coulomb scattering problem is presented in this thesis. The approach is based on splitting the interaction potential into a finite-range part and a long-range tail part. In this representation the scattering problem can be reformulated to one which is suitable for applying exterior complex scaling. LÄS MER
12. Intraocular light scattering and glare testing
Sammanfattning : Aims: To analyze the parameters that are used in psychophysical glare testing and the validity of the light scattering factor (LSF). The purpose is also to investigate the light scattering properties in excised eye lenses, and to compare these properties with light transmission for different wavelengths in aging and cataractous lenses. 13. Scattering of elastic waves by an anisotropic sphere
Sammanfattning : Scattering of a plane wave by a single spherical obstacle is the archetype of many scattering problems in physics and geophysics. Spherical objects can provide a good approximation for many real objects, and the analytic formulation for a single sphere can be used to investigate wave propagation in more complicated structures like particle composites or grainy materials, which may have application in non-destructive testing, material characterization, medical ultrasound, etc. LÄS MER

15. Light scattering in two-dimensional inhomogeneous paper : Analysis using general radiative transfer theory
Sammanfattning : Modeling light scattering is important in diverse reasearch fields such as paper and print, optical tomography, remote sensing and also in computer rendering of images. Particularly in paper and printing industry light scattering simulations play a significant role in understanding the optical response of paper in relation to its properties. LÄS MER
