  1. 1. Transitional design histories

    Författare :Maria Göransdotter; Johan Redström; Kjetil Fallan; Molly Wright Steenson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; design; design research; design theory; design history; history of design; industrial design; participatory design; co-design; user-centered design; Scandinavian design; Swedish design; history of ideas; design; designforskning; designteori; designhistoria; industridesign; deltagande design; samskapande; användarcentrerad design; skandinavisk design; svensk design; folkhemmet; idéhistoria; design; design; industrial design; industridesign; idé- och lärdomshistoria; History Of Sciences and Ideas; History; historia;

    Sammanfattning : Design practices are to a large degree conceptually and methodologically based in ways of designing rooted in the 20th century. Some of the challenges that arise in contemporary design stem from an unawareness of design’s historicity, and the discrepancies between what design methods and concepts once were made to handle, and what we presently try to apply them to. 2. 2. Bling & : Other Breaches in Design

    Författare :Despina Christoforidou; Industridesign; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Design; norms and values in the design field; Bling; blindspots; breaching experiments; breaches; breachers; in-betweenness mellanförskap ; in-betweeners mellanförskapare ; design as in-betweenness mellanförskap ; monolithic and polylithic contexts; norm critique norm creativity norm awareness; Design; normer och värderingar i designfältet; blinda fläckar; normbrytande experiment breaching experiments ; normbrott breaches ; normbrytare breachers ; mellanförskap; mellanförskapare; design som mellanförskap; monolitiska och polylitiska sammanhang; normkritik normkreativitet normmedvetenhet;

    Sammanfattning : The overall theme of this thesis is norm deviations, i.e. breaches, as an approach to illuminating blindspots in the design field in order to handle potential friction that arises constructively. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Realtime & Development - modes of knowing design computation in architectural practice

    Författare :Frans Magnusson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Design Methodology; Architectural Practice; Design Theory; Action Research; Computational Design; Design Computation; Design Systems; Project Workflow Management;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines theoretical, methodological and organisational implications of design computation for architectural practice - from an insider perspective. It also proposes a conceptual model for knowing within this practice, in an approach that interrelates theory and actionable knowledge. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Expansive design for teachers : An activity theoretical approach to design and work integrated learning

    Författare :Dennis Augustsson; Åsa Mäkitalo; Thomas Winman; Anne Edwards; Högskolan Väst; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Participatory design; Activity theory; Expansive learning; Teaching; Professional development; Education; Work Integrated Learning; Arbetsintegrerat lärande; Utbildningsvetenskap; Educational science;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores how Participatory Design (PD) and Cultural Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) can be combined and used as a theoretical framework and methodology in a professional development activity for teachers. A shift in the way we view teachers, from implementors to designers who actively construct, invent, and develop the practice of schooling also calls for changes in teacher education and professional development activities. 5. 5. Light Rhythms : Exploring the Perceptual and Behavioural Effects of Daylight and Artificial Light Conditions in a Scandinavian Context

    Författare :Federico Favero; Roberto Bresin; Arne Lowden; Ute Besenecker; Sergio Altomonte; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lighting design; Context; Light; Behaviour; Perception of light; Perception of time; Associative aspects; Architecture; Daylight; Media Technology; Medieteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This compilation thesis collects multidisciplinary work on the study of the impact of light rhythms on perception and behaviour. The thesis was structured to answer and discuss the questions: “How does a person feel and behave inan illuminated space?” and “Do variable light conditions influence perception, appraisal and motion?”.
