21. Latent Trait Models of Intrinsic, Extrinsic, and Quest Religious Orientations
Sammanfattning : Allports and Ross (1967) Intrinsic and Extrinsic scales and Batsons and Schoenrades (1991b) Quest scale are re-analyzed from a unidimensional perspective by using the Rasch measurement model (RM). The RM of choice, Rating scale analysis, offers an alternative scaling procedure to Factor analysis. LÄS MER
22. Model for activity coefficients and solubilities of Na2CO3 and Na2SO4 in high-temperature solutions
Sammanfattning : Scaling of sodium sulfate and sodium carbonate double salts has long been recognized as a problem in the black liquor evaporation process. These salts are abundant in black liquor and often tend to precipitate on heat transfer areas, thereby significantly decreasing the heat transfer efficiency. LÄS MER
23. Heat Transfer in Circulating Fluidized Bed Boilers
Sammanfattning : Heat transfer to single particles in the transport zone of circulating fluidized beds and heat transfer to membrane tube walls have been investigated. The heat transfer coefficient to spheres in the transport zone of a circulating fluidized bed boiler has been measured with dark and light calorimeters. LÄS MER
24. New Dimensions of Moving Bed Biofilm Carriers : Influence of biofilm thickness and control possibilities
Sammanfattning : The moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) is a biological wastewater treatment process in which microorganisms grow as biofilms on suspended carriers. Conventionally, MBBRs are mainly designed and optimized based on the carrier surface area, neglecting the dynamic relationship between carrier design, reactor operation and biofilm characteristics, such as biofilm thickness and the composition of the microbial community. 25. Chemical characterization in the biorefinery of lignocellulose : Formation and management of oxalic acid and analysis of feedstocks for bioethanol production
Sammanfattning : The pulp and paper industry is entering a new era. Pulp mills will be transformed to biorefineries that produce not only pulp, but also biofuels and novel products from lignocellulose. This thesis addresses problems connected with the industrial transition to environmental-friendly technologies and the implementation of the biorefinery concept. LÄS MER
