  1. 11. CFD Methods for Predicting Aircraft Scaling Effects

    Författare :Karl Pettersson; Arthur Rizzi; Bryan Richards; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CFD; Scaling Effects; Boundary Layer Transition; Preconditioning; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the problems of scaling aerodynamic data from wind tunnel to free flight  conditions. The main challenges when this scaling should be performed is how the model support, wall interference and the potentially lower Reynolds number in the windtunnel should be corrected. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Critical Scaling in Particle Systems and Random Graphs

    Författare :Vasilii Goriachkin; Matematisk statistik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dissipative force; particles collisions; random graphs; random walks; martingales; geometric random graphs; neural networks; critical scaling; diffusion approximation;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis is to study the behavior of macro-systems through their micro-parameters. In particular, we are interested in finding critical scaling in various models.Paper I investigates the influence of discrete-time collisions on particle dynamics. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Sustainable Arsenic Mitigation A Strategy for Scaling-up Safe Water Access : A Strategy for Scaling-up Safe Water Access

    Författare :Mohammed Hossain; Prosun Bhattacharya; Marinus Eric Donselaar; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bangladesh; drinking water; arsenic mitigation; local tubewell driller; sediment color tool; low-manganese; Intermediate Deep aquifer; Land and Water Resources Engineering; Mark- och vattenteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In rural Bangladesh, the drinking water supply is mostly dependent upon manually operated hand pumped tubewells, installed by the local community. The presence of natural arsenic (As) in groundwater and its wide scale occurrence has drastically reduced the safe water access across the country and put tens of millions of people under health risk. 4. 14. Social scaling and children's graphic strategies : A comparative study of children's drawings in three cultures

    Författare :Sven Andersson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Children s drawings; Social scaling. Children s social worlds; Graphic strategies. Cultural variation. Representations; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Sammanfattning : This cultural comparative study examines social scaling in children's drawings and whether children's formal graphic strategies follow the lines of traditional developmental stage models. Moreover, an attempt is made to develop methodological tools for comparative cultural research on children's social worlds. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Association Phenomena Involving Hydrophobically Modified Polymers. Electrostatic and Hydrophobic Contributions

    Författare :Marina Tsianou; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; scaling; light scattering; rheology; aqueous solution behavior; phase behavior; cyclodextrin; surfactant; polyacrylate; cellulose ether; polyelectrolyte; hydrophobically modified polymer; Polymer; water soluble polymer; viscosity; association; segregation; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions in aqueous solutions of hydrophobically-modified water-soluble non-ionic or ionic polymers, their mixtures with a second polymer, nonionic or of opposite charge, and their mixtures with surfactants of opposite charge have been investigated. The relative strength of the electrostatic and hydrophobic contributions has been modulated by a variation of the polymer charge density and the solution pH, and by a variation in the degree and strength of the hydrophobic modifications, respectively.
