  1. 1. Fate and transport of POPs in the aquatic environment : with focus on contaminated sediments

    Författare :Sarah Josefsson; Karin Wiberg; Mats Tysklind; Kjell Leonardsson; Jonas S Gunnarsson; Jussi Kukkonen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bioturbation; bioirrigation; bioaccumulation; secondary sources; buried contaminants; sediment remediation; active capping; thin-layer capping; Marenzelleria spp.; Baltic Sea; polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins; polychlorinated dibenzofurans; polychlorinated biphenyls; hexachlorobenzene; octachloro¬styrene; polybrominated diphenyl ethers; PCDD Fs; PCBs; HCB; OCS; PBDEs; water sampling; passive sampling; particulate fraction; freely dissolved; apparently dissolved; colloid; organic carbon; activated carbon; lignin; sediment-to-water flux; spring bloom; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Persistent organic compounds; Persistenta organiska föreningar; Environmental Science; miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are hydrophobic substances that readily sorb to organic matter in particles and colloids instead of being freely dissolved in the water phase. This sorption affects the bioavailability and environmental transport of the POPs. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Femmes-sujets : Étude sur les oeuvres de romancières marocaines francophones entre 1982 et 1999

    Författare :Sarah Kilito; Eva-Karin Josefsson; Margareta Östman; Zohra Mezgueldi; Stockholms universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation explores and analyses an emergent literature, namely the Moroccan francophone novel written by female authors. The novels selected were published between 1982 and 1999 in Morocco and in France. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Contaminated organic sediments of anthropogenic origin: impact on coastal environments

    Författare :Anna Apler; Ian Snowball; Sarah Josefsson; Lovisa Zillén; Magdalena Kuchler; Jonas Gunnarsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fiberbank; fiber-rich sediment; metals; persistent organic pollutants; pore water; bottom water; dispersal; sorption; pulp and paper; chemostratigraphy; Anthropocene; Natural Resources and Sustainable Development; Naturresurser och hållbar utveckling;

    Sammanfattning : The Baltic Sea is negatively affected by legacy pollutants such as metals and persistent organic pollutants (POPs) that are known to have adverse effects on living organisms, including, humans and were banned decades ago. This thesis addresses the dispersal of these pollutants from heavily contaminated, cellulose-rich sediments of industrial origin in the Ångermanälven river estuary in northern Sweden. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Dispersal and environmental impact of contaminants in organic rich, fibrous sediments of industrial origin in the Baltic Sea

    Författare :Anna Apler; Ian Snowball; Karin Wiberg; Kevin Bishop; Sarah Josefsson; Lovisa Zillén; Ida-Maja Hassellöv; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fiberbank; fiber-rich sediments; metals; persistent organic pollutants; pore water; bottom water; dispersal; sorption; pulp and paper; Natural Resources and Sustainable Development; Naturresurser och hållbar utveckling;

    Sammanfattning : The health of the Baltic Sea is negatively affected by hazardous substances such as metals and persistent organic pollutants (POPs), which include legacy pollutants that were banned decades ago, but still circulate in the ecosystem. Elevated levels of legacy pollutants, identified by HELCOM as key hazardous substances, have been found in accumulations of fibrous sediments, so-called fiberbanks and fiber-rich sediments, which derive from old pulp mills along the Swedish north coast. 5. 5. Sub-lethal Effects of Anthropogenic Contaminants on Aquatic Invertebrates

    Författare :Warren Kunce; Frank Johansson; Jan Örberg; Sarah Josefsson; Jes Rasmussen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ecotoxicology; sub-lethal; behavior; biomarkers; thermal tolerance; pesticides; pyrethroids; neonicotinoids; pharmaceuticals; antihistamines; microplastics; mixtures; freshwater; invertebrates; chironomids; damselflies; snails; Biology with specialization in Animal Conservation; Biologi med inriktning mot zoologisk bevarandebiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Anthropogenic contaminants are considered to play a substantial role in the decline of freshwater invertebrate diversity. Sub-lethal effects of many of these contaminants on behaviour and life-history traits of aquatic invertebrates may contribute to their decline. LÄS MER
