  1. 1. Immunometabolic reprogramming during suppressive HIV-1 infection

    Författare :Sara Svensson Akusjärvi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Since the implementation of antiretroviral therapy (ART), infection with human immunodeficiency virus type-1 (HIV-1) has been transformed into a chronic lifelong condition. The main obstacle for a HIV-1 cure is the persistence of latently infected cells in viral reservoirs. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Molecular and cellular interactions on noble metal nanopatterned surfaces − applications towards bone, soft tissue and infection control

    Författare :Sara Svensson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nanotopography; noble metals; titanium; biocompatibility; osseointegration; inflammation; host defence; monocytes; infection control; antimicrobial; staphylococci;

    Sammanfattning : Biomaterial-associated infection is recognised as one of the main risks for failure of medical devices. The presence of a foreign material in tissues has been suggested to compromise the ability of host cells to eradicate infection. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Cognitively inspired design : Rethink the wheel for self-driving cars

    Författare :Sara Mahmoud; Serge Thill; Henrik Svensson; Erik Billing; Alessandro Di Nuovo; Högskolan i Skövde; []

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines Cognitively Inspired Design (CID), which is the process of transferring cognitive science frameworks and theories to intelligent systems in an application context. The thesis studies the relation between cognitive science and the traditional approach to developing systems. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Early Environment, Adolescent Alcohol Drinking and Neurobiological Responses to Drugs

    Författare :Sara Palm; Ingrid Nylander; Anne-Lie Svensson; Lundblad Martin; Giancarlo Colombo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adolescence; beta-endorphin; dopamine; dynorphin; endogenous opioids; enkephalin; high-speed chronoamperometry; housing conditions; maternal separation; multivariate concentric square field™ test; open field test; radioimmunoassay; voluntary alcohol intake; Wistar rats; Pharmaceutical Science; Farmaceutisk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Genes and environment interact to determine an individual’s vulnerability or resilience to several psychiatric disorders, including alcohol use disorder (AUD). Alcohol use is often initiated during adolescence and early onset drinking is associated with increased risk for later AUD. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation

    Författare :Sara Själander; Peter J. Svensson; Bo Carlberg; Håkan Walfridsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Atrial fibrillation; stroke; oral anticoagulation; aspirin; haemorrhage; electrical cardioversion; pulmonary vein isolation; Cardiology; kardiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The Framingham Study from 1991 showed a clear correlation between atrial fibrillation (AF) and ischemic stroke, where patients with AF had an almost fivefold increase in risk of stroke compared with patients without AF. Since then, several trials have evaluated different antithrombotic treatments to reduce the risk of stroke in patients with AF. LÄS MER
