  1. 1. Soil salinity as a driver of microbial community structure and functioning

    Detta är en avhandling från Lund University, Faculty of Science, Centre for Environmental and Climate Research (CEC)

    Författare :Kristin Rath; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2017-12]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Soil salinization; Soil Microbiology; soil microbial community; Bacteria; Aerobic; Fungi; Drying-rewetting; Microbial growth; Microbial biomass; Soil respiration; salinity tolerance; Saline soils; Salinity gradient;

    Sammanfattning : High concentrations of salts in agricultural soils are an environmental problem that has plagued human civilization from its very beginning. Already the earliest civilizations in ancient Mesopotamia struggled with increasing concentrations of salt on irrigated fields. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Structure and function of microbial communities in acid sulfate soil and the terrestrial deep biosphere

    Detta är en avhandling från Växjö : Linnaeus University Press

    Författare :Xiaofen Wu; Linnéuniversitetet.; [2016]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molecular phylogeny; acid sulfate soils; metal; acidophiles; deep biosphere; oligotrophy; biofilm formation; metagenome; binning; metabolism; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the use of different DNA sequencing technologies to investigate the structure and function of microbial communities in two extreme environments, boreal acid sulfate soil and the terrestrial deep biosphere.The first of the two investigated environments was soils containing un-oxidized metal sulfides that are termed ‘potential acid sulfate soil’ (PASS) materials. 3. 3. Condensation irrigation a combined system for desalination and irrigation

    Detta är en avhandling från Luleå : Luleå tekniska universitet

    Författare :Jenny Lindblom; Luleå tekniska universitet.; [2012]
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Vattenteknik; Water Resources Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Condensation Irrigation (CI) is a new irrigation method that combines desalination and subsurface irrigation by making use of saline water for supplying clean irrigation. In this system, solar stills are used for evaporating non-potable water, and the formed vapour heats and humidifies the ambient air above the water surface. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Nutrient balance and salinity stress in arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi

    Detta är en avhandling från Luleå : Luleå tekniska universitet

    Författare :Edith Hammer; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2010]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inoculum; Glomalin; Fatty acids; Osmolyte; Organic matter; K; Na; Salinity; Symbiotic exchange; Phosphorus P; Carbon C; PIXE; Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi; Rhizobium;

    Sammanfattning : Earth’s primary production depends to a considerable extent on the mycorrhizal symbiosis, since mycorrhizal fungi supply their host plant with important mineral nutrients. I examined the influence of different nutrient regimes on the fungal partner in the arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis. LÄS MER
