2. Structural Safety Analysis of Bow-Doors
Sammanfattning : Bow-doors are one of the most vulnerable parts on a RoRo-vessel. At the same time, they are necessary for the profitability of todays RoRo-vessels.The minimum design rules for bow-door systems, stated in the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) S8, constitute the basis for the class rules. 3. Decision-making in obstetric emergencies. Individual differences and professional boundaries
Sammanfattning : In affluent nations, variations in obstetric care, particularly during emergencies, perplexingly manifest in differing intervention and outcome rates. Although these variations mirror systemic disparities, they are also suggested to reflect the interplay of social and professional interactions between obstetricians/gynecologists and midwives, stemming from adherence to distinct professional paradigms and the influence of personal factors on decision-making and collaboration. 4. Decision Analysis in Fire Safety Engineering - Analysing Investments in Fire Safety
Sammanfattning : The application of decision analytical methods to the evaluation of investments in fire safety was investigated, particularly with the aim of being able to suggest a method for analysing a specific investment in fire safety for a specific factory. Attention was directed above all at the handling of cases of large epistemic uncertainty regarding both probabilities and utilities, Bayesian decision theory serving as a basis for the development of the method. 5. Risk-based ship security analysis : a decision-support approach
Sammanfattning : The protection of shipping does not come without hazards and threats for military forces, individual civilian ship operators and crews. With particular focus on security threats, this thesis is about how to prepare for such operations without introducing unnecessary risks, i.e., supporting conscious risk-taking related to ship security.
