  1. 1. Regulation of postnatal neurogenesis and brain angiogenesis by thyroid hormone

    Författare :Jenny Liqun Zhang; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :thyroid hormone; neurogenesis; angiogenesis; SVZ OB; hippocampus; neural stem cells; endothelial cells; astrocytes;

    Sammanfattning : Thyroid hormone (TH), which is secreted by the thyroid gland, exerts significant effects on the central nervous system (CNS), especially during development, so that delayed treatment of perinatal hypothyroidism results in severe cognitive retardation. Continuous postnatal neurogenesis occurs throughout adulthood in the subventricular zone (SVZ) of the lateral ventricle wall and in the subgranular zone (SGZ) of the dentate gyrus (DG) of the hippocampal formation. 2. 2. Assessment of precursor cell proliferation in normal and injured adult mammalian brains

    Författare :Hong Zhu; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :6-OHDA; astrocytes; cell proliferation; neural stem cells; ; neurogenesis; precursor cells; seizure; SVZ-OB pathway;

    Sammanfattning : In the adult mammalian brain, new neurons are generated from neural stem cells (NSCs) which reside in the subventricular zone (SVZ) of the lateral ventricle wall and in the subgranular zone (SGZ) of the dentate gyrus (DG) in the hippocampus. The biology of persistent NSCs in the adult brain is poorly understood. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Neurogenic and inflammatory response in the rodent brain following stroke

    Författare :Ursula Heldmann; Lund Neurologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; inflammation; Mac-1-saporin; TNF-a; Neurogenesis; Microglia; stroke; aging;

    Sammanfattning : Stroke and in this case cerebral infarction affects 20 million people each year and five million of them die. In Sweden 30-35000 people will be affected and one of three of them will be severely disabled. In addition, one of six will suffer a new stroke within six years. LÄS MER
