  1. 1. Purification and characterization of thioltransferase (thiol: disulfide oxidoreductase) from rat liver cytosol : studies on its substrate specificity and possible biological role

    Författare :Kent Axelsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : This investigation describes an enzyme» from rat liver cytosol» catalyzing thiol-disulfide exchange reactions. The purification of the enzyme as well as many of its molecular characteristics are presented. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Substrate specificity of protein kinases studied with synthetic peptides

    Författare :Reet Toomik; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; protein kinase A; protein kinase C; substrate; peptide; specificity; stereospecificity; assay; SPOTS peptides; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medical and Physiological Chemistry; medicinsk och fysiologisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concentrates on the substrate specificities of protein kinases A and C (PKA, PKC). Synthetic peptides are used for that purpose, both in soluble and cellulose membrane-bound form. The, stereospecificity of both protein kinases was studied with D-amino acid containing synthetic peptides. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Enzyme selectivity as a tool in analytical chemistry

    Författare :Anders Hamberg; Karl Hult; Harry Brumer; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; substrate specificity; competing substrates; enantiomeric excess analysis; library screening; ladder sequencing; carboxypeptidase Y; 2-pyridylmethylamine; MALDI; Candia antarctica lipase B; pig liver esterase; horse liver alcohol dehydrogenase; acylated cyanohydrins; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Enzymes are useful tools as specific analytical reagents. Two different analysis methods were developed for use in the separate fields of protein science and organic synthesis. Both methods rely on the substrate specificity of enzymes. Enzyme catalysis and substrate specificity is described and put in context with each of the two developed methods. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Cutting Edge – Cleavage Specificity and Biochemical Characterization of Mast Cell Serine Proteases

    Författare :Ulrika Karlson; Lars Hellman; Urban Gullberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; mast cell; serine protease; tryptase; chymase; substrate specificity; phage display; Biologi; Biology; Biologi; Molecular Immunology; molekylär immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : It is well established that mast cells (MC) are key players in airway pathologies such as allergic asthma, but they are also known to contribute to host defense and tissue remodeling. MC serine proteases are the major protein components of mast cell granules and accordingly, are most likely involved in many aspects of MC function. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Allosteric Regulation and Radical Transfer in Ribonucleotide Reductase

    Författare :Karl-Magnus Larsson; Pär Nordlund; Derek Logan; Roger Kornberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; allosteric regulation; substrate specificity; ribonucleotide reductase; radical; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : The stability of biological life over time requires that the integrity of the genetic material of an organism, the genome, be maintained as it is passed on from one generation to the next. All known cellular life has DNA-based genomes, which are duplicated before each cell division in a process called replication. LÄS MER
