6. Towards Generation of Human Hematopoietic Stem Cells from Pluripotent Stem Cells
Sammanfattning : There is a pressing need for compatible Hematopoietic Stem Cells (HSCs), in high quantities and of good clinical quality, to ensure optimal treatment for patients with various blood malignancies. Pluripotent Stem Cells (PSCs) have the potential to be a source for generating HSCs. LÄS MER
8. High temperature corrosion of some selected stainless steels and Ni-base alloys – an advanced microscopy study
Sammanfattning : The thesis deals with high temperature corrosion behavior of some selective stainless steels and Ni-base alloys with applications in power generation technologies, e.g. boilers fired by biomass and waste. LÄS MER
9. Novel Insights into Haematopoietic Stem Cell Regulation and Function
Sammanfattning : The haematopoietic stem cell (HSC) is a somatic stem cell essential for life long haematopoiesis; HSCs have the capability to differentiate into all mature types of blood cells and can also undergo self-renewal to maintain their own numbers. They also have the potential to reconstitute a complete haematopoietic system following HSC transplantation, also known as bone marrow transplantation, which is used to treat many haematopoietic disorders. 10. Potential Hazards for Haematopoietic Stem Cell Donors
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis has been to increase our knowledge about the allogeneic stem cell donation procedure and the associated risks for stem cell donors. In a first study (paper I), we described the donation procedure and short-term side effects of 1957 donors included in the Nordic Register of Haematopoietic Stem Cell Donors. LÄS MER
