6. Active Control and Reduced-Order Modeling of Transition in Shear Flows
Sammanfattning : In this thesis direct numerical simulation is used to investigate the possibilityto delay the transition from laminar to turbulent in boundary layer flows.Furthermore, modal analysis is used to reveal the coherent structures in highdimensional dynamical systems arising in the flow problems. 7. Numerical Investigation of Rotating and Stratified Turbulence
Sammanfattning : Atmospheric and oceanic flows are strongly affected by rotation and stratification. Rotation is exerted through Coriolis forces which mainly act in horizontal planes whereas stratification largely affects the motion along the vertical direction through buoyancy forces, the latters related to the vertical variation of the fluid density. 8. Crystallization of Parabens : Thermodynamics, Nucleation and Processing
Sammanfattning : In this work, the solubility of butyl paraben in 7 pure solvents and in 5 different ethanol-water mixtures has been determined from 1 ˚C to 50 ˚C. The solubility of ethyl paraben and propyl paraben in various solvents has been determined at 10 ˚C. LÄS MER
9. Spectral-element simulations of turbulent wall-bounded flows including transition and separation
Sammanfattning : The spectral-element method (SEM) is used to study wall-bounded turbulent flowsin moderately complex geometries. The first part of the thesis is devoted to simulations of canonical flow cases, such as temporal K-type transitionand turbulent channel flow, to investigate general resolution requirements and computational efficiency of the numerical code nek5000. 10. Visualisation and Generalisation of 3D City Models
Sammanfattning : 3D city models have been widely used in different applications such as urban planning, traffic control, disaster management etc. Effective visualisation of 3D city models in various scales is one of the pivotal techniques to implement these applications. LÄS MER
