1. Earth satellites and air and ground-based activities
Sammanfattning : This thesis, Earth satellites and detection of air andground based activities by Ulf Ekblad of the Physics departmentat the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), addresses theproblem of detecting military activities in imagery. Examplesof various techniques are presented. LÄS MER
2. Fuel-Efficient Truck Platooning using Speed Profile Optimization
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with fuel-efficient driving strategies for heavy-dutyvehicles driving on highways with varying topography. A method for reducingthe fuel consumption of single trucks and platoons consisting of several trucksis described and evaluated both in simulation and in real trucks. LÄS MER
3. Fuel-efficient driving strategies
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with fuel-efficient driving strategies for vehicles driving on roads with varying topography, as well as estimation of road grade and vehicle mass for vehicles utilizing such strategies. A framework referred to as speed profile optimization (SPO), is introduced for reducing the fuel or energy consumption of single vehicles (equipped with either combustion or electric engines) and platoons of several vehicles. 4. Radio waves in the ionosphere : Propagation, generation and detection
Sammanfattning : We discuss various topics concerning the propagation, generation, and detec-tionof high-frequency (HF) radio waves in the Earth's ionosphere. With re-gardsto propagation, we derive a full wave Hamiltonian and a polarization evo-lutionequation for electromagnetic waves in a cold, stratified magnetoplasma. LÄS MER
5. Developmental Control of Cell Division in Streptomyces coelicolor
Sammanfattning : Cell division in the Gram-positive bacterium Streptomyces coelicolor starts with the assembly of the tubulin homologue FtsZ into a cytokinetic ring (the Z ring) at the site of septation. In stark contrast to the binary fission of most bacteria, the syncytial hyphal cells of S. LÄS MER
