  1. 1. Gene regulation by different proteins of TGFβ superfamily

    Författare :Varun Maturi; Aristidis Moustakas; Anita Göndör; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; EMT; Snail1; ZEB1; TGFβ; BMP; Gene regulation;

    Sammanfattning : The present thesis discusses how gene regulation by transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) family cytokines is affected by post-translational modifications of different transcription factors. The thesis also focuses on gene regulation by transcription factors involved in TGFβ signaling. LÄS MER

  2. 2. TRAF6, a key regulator of TGFβ-induced oncogenesis in prostate cancer

    Författare :Reshma Sundar; Marene Landström; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Petra Knaus; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TβRI; TGFβ; TACE; TRAF6; PS1; PKCζ; TβRI-ICD; NICD; Smad; non-Smad; prostate cancer; Snail1; MMP; p300; p21; PAI1; ubiquitination; cleavage; ICD; invasion; HES1; signaling; patologi; Pathology;

    Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, with the incidence rapidly increasing in Europe over the past two decades. Reliable biomarkers for prostate cancer are currently unavailable. Thus, there is an urgent need for improved biomarkers to diagnose prostate cancer at an early stage and to determine the best treatment options. LÄS MER

  3. 3. TRAF6 stimulates TGFβ-induced oncogenic signal transduction in cancer cells

    Författare :Shyam Kumar Gudey; Marene Landström; Urban Lendahl; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; c-Jun; invasion; non-Smad; Notch; NICD; oncogenesis; presenilin1; PKCζ; prostate cancer; p21; p38; p300; Snail1; TGFβ; TβRI; TACE; TRAF6; ubiquitination; TGFbeta signal transduction; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in men worldwide, with 10,000 new cases/year diagnosed in Sweden. In this context, there is an urgent need to identify new biomarkers to detect prostate cancer at an initial stage for earlier treatment intervention. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The role of transforming growth factor‐β signaling and hypoxia‐inducible factors in renal cell carcinoma

    Författare :Pramod Mallikarjuna; Maréne Landström; Börje Ljungberg; Raviprakash Tumkur Sitaram; Anders Bjartell; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the cancer of the kidneys; about 1100 patients with RCC are diagnosed in Sweden each year. RCC can be classified into several subtypes, clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is most common accounting to about 70% of all RCCs, and also the most lethal; papillary renal cell carcinoma (pRCC) accounts to about 10%‐15%, while chromophobe renal cell carcinoma (chRCC) accounts to about 5% of all RCCs. 5. 5. RNA Polymerase I regulation by chromatin remodelling

    Författare :Yuan Guo; Ann-Kristin Östlund Farrants; Marikki Laiho; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RNA Pol I; ribosome genes; chromatin remodelling; WSTF; CHD4; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Cell proliferation and growth is correlated with effective protein synthesis and ribosome biogenesis. The transcription of the 47S pre-ribosomal RNA by RNA Polymerase I (RNA Pol I) machinery is the rate-limiting step of ribosome biogenesis and can accounts for more than 50% of total cellular transcription.
