  1. 1. Corrosion Behavior of Duplex Stainless Steels in Acidic-Chloride Solutions Studied with Micrometer Resolution

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Materialvetenskap

    Författare :Marc Femenia; KTH.; [2003]
    Nyckelord :In situ; local dissolution; STM; SKPFM; MFM; SAES; duplex stainless steel; acidic-chloride solution;

    Sammanfattning : The local corrosion behavior of duplex stainless steel (DSS)is affected by a wide variety of factors. Localized corrosionof DSS frequently starts at micrometer scale inclusions orprecipitates, which are often segregated in theaustenite-ferrite boundary regions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Mechanistic studies of localized corrosion of Al alloys by high resolution in-situ and ex-situ probing techniques

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : KTH

    Författare :Ali Davoodi; KTH.; [2007]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; localized corrosion; pitting; aluminum alloy; intermetallic particle; Volta potential; cathodic activity; micro-galvanic effect; size dependence; SKPFM; in-situ AFM; integrated AFM SECM; numerical simulation; micrometer resolution; EIS.; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : A multi-analytical approach based on in-situ and ex-situ local probing techniques was employed to investigate localized corrosion mechanisms of some aluminum alloys in chloride containing solutions, focusing on the influence of intermetallic particles (IMPs) in the alloys. In the EN AW-3003 alloy, SEM-EDS analysis revealed constituent and dispersoid IMPs. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Use of local electrochemical techniques for corrosion studies of stainless steels

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Författare :Nuria Fuertes; KTH.; [2016]
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stainless steel; passive film; thermal oxides; work function; pickling; SKPFM; SVET; XPS; AES; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The excellent corrosion resistance of stainless steels arises from the presence of a passive film on its surface. Above 10.5wt% Cr a chromium oxide of 1-3 nm is formed on the surface of the metal that in case of damage will reform and hinder further dissolution of the metal. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Relativenobility of precipitated phases in stainless steels Evaluation with a combination of local probing techniques

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : KTH

    Författare :Namurata Sathirachinda; KTH.; [2010]
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TECHNOLOGY Materials science; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Stainless steels often exhibit complex transformation and precipitation behaviour due to a high content of alloying elements. Secondary phases can be formed in the temperature range of 300-1000°C and are generally undesirable due to their detrimental effect on mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of stainless steels. 5. 5. Atmospheric corrosion of zinc-aluminum and copper-based alloys in chloride-rich environments Microstructure, corrosion initiation, patina evolution and metal release

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Författare :Xian Zhang; KTH.; [2014]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmospheric corrosion; chloride deposition; Zn-Al alloy coatings on steel microstructure; Cu sheet and Cu alloys; microstructure; corrosion initiation; corrosion product evolution; metal release; SEM; IRAS; CRM.; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Fundamental understanding of atmospheric corrosion mechanisms requires an in-depth understanding on the dynamic interaction between corrosive constituents and metal/alloy surfaces. This doctoral study comprises field and laboratory investigations that assess atmospheric corrosion and metal release processes for two different groups of alloys exposed in chloride-rich environments.
