6. Carbon sequestration processes in tropical seagrass beds
Sammanfattning : Seagrass meadows may play a substantial role in climate change mitigation as they are capable to sequester and store substantial amounts of anthropogenic carbon in plant biomass and, more importantly, in their underlying sediments. In this PhD thesis, the carbon-burial potential was assessed by quantifying the amount of organic carbon stored in different seagrass meadows, each dominated by one of the four major seagrass species in the Western Indian Ocean region. 7. Turbulent Forced Convection Air Cooling of Electronics with Heat Sinks Under Flow Bypass Conditions
Sammanfattning : Air cooling is still the dominant method for dissipating theheat produced by electronic components. In a typical electronicdevice, the components are situated on a Printed Circuit Board(PCB). For most applications natural convection is sufficientto cool the components. LÄS MER
8. Sediment transport from source to sink in the Lake Baikal basin : Impacts of hydroclimatic change and mining
Sammanfattning : Different magnitude, intensity and timing of precipitation can impact runoff, hillslope erosion and transport of sediment along river channels. Human activities, such as dam construction and surface mining can also considerably influence transport of sediment and sediment-bound contaminants. LÄS MER
9. cfd modelling and experimental study on the fluid flow and heat transfer in copper heat sink design
Sammanfattning : AbstractThis thesis is studying the heatsinks new designs for copper heatsinks which utilizes modelling and simulation by CFD, construction of prototypes and experimental works. Challenges and complications in manufacturing of copper heatsinks are expressed and finding the solutions to these hindrances involve in this work. LÄS MER
10. On the origin of polymorphism - consequences of competition and predation in heterogeneous environments
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I have studied when an initially monomorphic population can diverge into two morphs in a heterogeneous environment. Evolution is driven by competition for resources or predation. In Paper I, we studied source-sink dynamics during evolution in an environment with two types of resource of different abundance in two habitats. LÄS MER
