21. The influence of solvent composition on crystal agglomeration of paracetamol
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the influence of solvent compositionon crystal agglomeration of paracetamol. Much work has beendone on characterisation of the crystalline product.Interfacial energies have also been determined for large singlegrown crystals. LÄS MER
22. New Fullerene Materials Obtained in Solution and by High Pressure High Temperature Treatment
Sammanfattning : Crystallization of C60 and C70 from organic solution often leads to the formation of new solvates and other fullerene compounds. In the present thesis, a number of such solvates were obtained and their phase transitions studied using in situ "in solution" techniques. LÄS MER
23. Nanocalorimetry of electronic phase transitions in systems with unconventional superconductivity and magnetic ordering
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, low temperature specific heat measurements on small (μg) single crystals of different superconducting and magnetic systems are presented. The device used in this work features a combination of high sensitivity and good accuracy over the temperature range 1-400 K and allows measurements in high magnetic fields. LÄS MER
24. Quasicrystal Approximants in the RE-Au-SM systems (RE = Gd, Tb, Ho, Yb; SM = Si, Ge) : Syntheses, structures and properties
Sammanfattning : In this study, new Tsai-type 1/1 quasicrystal approximants (ACs) in the RE-Au-SM systems (RE = Gd, Tb, Ho, Yb; SM = Si, Ge) were synthesized using high temperature synthesis techniques such as self-flux, arc-melting-annealing and novel arc-melting-self-flux methods. The syntheses not only provided appropriate samples for the intended structural and physical property measurements but could also be adapted to other systems, especially where crystal growth is a challenge. 25. Low Cycle Fatigue and Thermo-Mechanical Fatigue of Uncoated and Coated Nickel-Base Superalloys
Sammanfattning : High strength nickel-base superalloys have been used in turbine blades for many years because of their superior performance at high temperatures. In such environments superalloys have limited oxidation and corrosion resistance and to solve this problem, protective coatings are deposited on the surface. LÄS MER
