1. Multivariate spectroscopic methods for the analysis of solutions
Sammanfattning : In this thesis some multivariate spectroscopic methods for the analysis of solutions are proposed. Spectroscopy and multivariate data analysis form a powerful combination for obtaining both quantitative and qualitative information and it is shown how spectroscopic techniques in combination with chemometric data evaluation can be used to obtain rapid, simple and efficient analytical methods. 2. Firefighters' physical work capacity
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to identify valid, simple, and inexpensive physical tests that can be used for evaluation of firefighters’ physical work capacity. Paper I included fulltime- and part-time firefighters (n = 193), aged 20-60 years. LÄS MER
3. A Control-theoretic Approach to Realize Self-adaptive Software Systems with Guarantees
Sammanfattning : Engineering modern software systems is a challenging task as these systems are subject to different types of uncertainties. Examples of such uncertainties are disturbances in the environment that are difficult to predict and goals that may change during operation. LÄS MER
4. Aspects of aquatic sampling and exploratory data analysis of hydrophobic organic compounds
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on seven papers describing studies conducted with samples from the Baltic Sea. It discusses some aspects on the use of multivariate methods for evaluation of data on hydrophobic organic compounds (HOCs) found in the aquatic environment. LÄS MER
5. QSBMR Quantitative Structure Biomagnification Relationships : Studies Regarding Persistent Environmental Pollutants in the Baltic Sea Biota
Sammanfattning : I have studied persistent environmental pollutants in herring (Clupea harengus), in adult guillemot (Uria aalge) and in guillemot eggs from the Baltic Sea. The studied contaminants were organochlorines (OCs); dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethanes (DDTs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), hexachlorobenzene (HCB), hexachlorocyclohexanes (HCHs), and brominated flame retardants (BFRs); polybrominated diphenylethers (PBDEs) and hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD).
