1. Nano-particulate Silica Hydrogels Imaged in 2D and 3D using TEM: Effects of local pore structure on mass transport and applications in aggregation dynamics
Sammanfattning : Porous materials are frequently used in everyday applications including food science, pharmaceuticals, fuel cell membranes, batteries and solar cells. A key aspect in these porous materials is how their micro- and nano-structure affect the internal transport of for example water, particles or charges. The transport is a three-dimensional process. 2. Studies of Electrocatalytic Reactions of NADH at Mediator Modified Electrodes and of H2O2 at Peroxidase Modified Electrodes
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses: (1) studies of direct and mediated electron transfer and kinetics of peroxidases on electrodes and the development of amperometric peroxidase-based biosenors, (2) electrochemical and kinetic studies of NADH oxidation at mediator modified electrodes. The direct and mediated electron transfer of horseradish and tobacco peroxidase were investigated on graphite electrodes by using wall-jet electrode methodology. LÄS MER
3. Modification of silica gel with organosilanes for high performance thin layer chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography

4. Printability and Ink-Coating Interactions in Inkjet Printing
Sammanfattning : Inkjet is a digital printing process where the ink is ejected directly onto a substrate from a jet device driven by an electronic signal. Most inkjet inks have a low viscosity and a low surface tension, which put high demands on the coating layer’s porosity and absorbency characteristics. LÄS MER
5. Chemical analysis of complex mixtures with regard to potentially genotoxic organic compounds
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes different methods for the extraction, fractionation, and analysis of particle adsorbed organic compounds. The utility of capillary gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) for the analysis of polycyclic aromatic compounds (PAC) is demonstrated. LÄS MER
