  1. 1. Long shifts, short rests and vulnerability to shift work

    Författare :John Axelsson; Torbjörn Åkerstedt; Ulf Lundberg; Phil Tucker; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; Sleep; alertness; sleepiness; shiftwork; compressed working hours; long shifts; 12h shifts; quick returns; quick change-overs; tolerance; gender; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : At the same time as many urban economies are developing into 24-hour societies it is becoming increasingly popular amongst shift workers to compress their working hours. This is done by working longer shifts (>8h) and/or restricting free time (... LÄS MER

  2. 2. Regime Shifts in the Anthropocene

    Författare :Juan Carlos Rocha; Garry Peterson; Reinette Biggs; Örjan Bodin; Kevin Noone; Sarah Cornell; Ingo Fretzer; Steven Lade; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; regime shifts; critical transitions; network analysis; dynamic tipping points; vetenskap om hållbar utveckling; Sustainability Science; Systems Ecology; systemekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Regime shifts are large, abrupt and often hard to reverse changes in the function and structure of socal-ecological systems. These regime shifts have been documented in a broad range of systems and scales both in marine, terrestrial and polar ecosystems. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Regime Shifts in the Anthropocene

    Sammanfattning : Abrupt and persistent reconfiguration of ecosystem’s structure and function has been observed on a wide variety of ecosystems worldwide. While scientist believe that such phenomena could become more common and severe in the near future, little is known about the patterns of regime shifts’ causes and consequences for human well-being. 4. 4. Upholding the coral loop : Resilience, alternative stable states and feedbacks in coral reefs

    Författare :Albert Norström; Magnus Nyström; Nancy Knowlton; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; resilience; alternative stable states; regimes; feedbacks; recruitment; coral reefs; marine ecosystem management; regime shifts; phase shifts; Marine ecology; Marin ekologi; Natural Resources Management; naturresurshushållning;

    Sammanfattning : Coral reefs are suffering unprecedented declines in coral cover and species diversity. These changes are often associated with  substantial shifts in community structure to new dominant organisms. Ultimately, these “phase shifts” can be persistent and very difficult to return from.
