  1. 1. Dietary Fatty Acids, Body Composition and Ectopic Fat : Results from Overfeeding Studies in Humans

    Författare :Fredrik Rosqvist; Ulf Risérus; Tommy Cederholm; Ian Macdonald; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Linoleic acid; Palmitic acid; SFA; PUFA; Fatty acids; Body composition; Liver fat; Ectopic fat; Adipose tissue; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate the effects of dietary fatty acids on body composition and ectopic fat in humans, with emphasis on the role of the omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) linoleic acid (18:2n-6) and the saturated fatty acid (SFA) palmitic acid (16:0). The overall hypothesis was that linoleic acid would be beneficial compared with palmitic acid during overfeeding, as previously indicated in animals. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Dietary Fatty Acids and Cardiometabolic Risk : Influence on Lipoproteins, Insulin Resistance and Liver Fat

    Författare :David Iggman; Ulf Risérus; Tommy Cederholm; Åke Nilsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Linoleic acid; Palmitic acid; PUFA; SFA; n-6 fatty acids; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate how dietary fatty acids affect the risk for cardiometabolic disease, i.e. cardiovascular disease (CVD), type 2 diabetes and obesity. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Word-finding difficulties in left hemisphere stroke, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease - differences in symptom occurrence and effects of anomia treatment

    Författare :Joana Kristensson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; anomia; word-finding difficulties; ICF; assessment; self-reports; naming; everyday communication; SFA; treatment; stroke; multiple sclerosis; Parkinson’s disease;

    Sammanfattning : Word-finding difficulties, or anomia, are a common symptom in various conditions affecting the brain, such as stroke, multiple sclerosis (MS) or Parkinson’s disease (PD). The aim of this thesis is twofold: (i) to increase our knowledge about the similarities and dissimilarities between the word-finding difficulties associated with different kinds of neurological conditions, and (ii) to evaluate treatment effects of anomia treatment using a method called semantic feature analysis (SFA). 4. 4. On the interactions in cellulose systems : surface forces and adsorption

    Författare :Monika Österberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :cellulose; hemicellulose; xylan; lignin; surface forces; adsorption; polyelectrolyte; SFA; AFM; ESCA; Langmuir-Blodgett films; chitosan; steric forces; bridging; adhesion;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis the interactions in cellulose systems havebeen studied with emphasis on surface forces and adsorptionphenomenon. The study was limited to surfaces and polymers ofinterest for papermaking. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Tracing Copper from society to the aquatic environment : Model development and case studies in Stockholm

    Författare :Qing Cui; Maria E. Malmström; Olle Wahlberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :diffuse source; source analysis; sediment pollution levels; urban lake; Copper; Stockholm archipelago; SFA; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Copper remains at elevated levels in the aquatic environment of Stockholm due to diffuse urban sources. Management of these diffuse sources requires their quantification but they cannot be measured directly by field observations. LÄS MER
