22. Factors in secondary prevention subsequent to distal radius fracture : Focus on physical function, co-morbidity, bone mineral density and health-related quality of life
Sammanfattning : In Sweden approximately 25000 distal radius fractures occur annually, which is 37 % of all fractures related to osteoporosis. In this thesis, risk factors for osteoporosis, bone mineral density (BMD) and health-related quality of life (the SF-36) were compared in patients who suffered a distal radius fracture after low energy trauma with a control group matched on the basis of age, gender, and municipality of residence. 23. Long term effects of gastric bypass on quality of life and bone mineral density
Sammanfattning : Obesity is a worldwide disease. Surgery is currently the only available management option which offers an adequate long-term effect on comorbidity, quality-of-life and weight loss. It is evident that overweight and obesity are associated with low health-related quality-of life (HRQoL) and multiple comorbidities. LÄS MER
24. Cardiovascular disease and hypertension : Population-based studies on self-rated health and health-related quality of life in Sweden
Sammanfattning : The aim with this thesis was to study cardiovascular disease and hypertension, use of drugs and health from an epidemiological perspective. Various methods - self-rated health (SRH), health related quality of life (HRQL) - the 36-item short form questionnaire (SF-36) - and health utility measurements - the rating scale (RS) and the time-trade off (TTO) methods - were employed. 25. Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with bone-patellar tendon-bone graft : postoperative intervention and influential factors for patient-relevant long-term outcome
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the present thesis was to assess patient-relevant outcome after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction and to improve the knowledge of which factors that may predict longterm outcome after bone-patellar tendon-bone ACL reconstruction. Study I: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the role of a brace after ACL reconstruction with bone-patellar tendon-bone graft on knee stability and knee function two years after surgery.
