21. A New Shoulder for the THOR Dummy Intended for Oblique Collisions
Sammanfattning : Offset and oblique frontal car collisions represent a type of crash in which severe and fatal injuries frequently occur. This indicates the importance of having protective systems in vehicles for these types of collisions. LÄS MER
22. Towards strategic development of maintenance and its effects on production performance : A hybrid simulation-based optimization framework
Sammanfattning : Managing maintenance in manufacturing within an economical short-termism framework and taking the consequential long-term cost effects into account is hard. The increasing complexity of managing maintenance and its impact on the business results calls for more advanced methods to support long-term development through effective activities in the production system environment. 23. ABA and chromatin remodelling regulate the activity-dormancy cycle in hybrid aspen
Sammanfattning : One of the most important survival strategies plants have evolved is the cessation of growth and development of dormancy in response to the seasonal changes. Apical meristems of deciduous woody plants living in temperate and boreal zones undergo a yearly cycle between an active and a dormant state, which allows them to protect the meristem and avoid damage provoked by extremes of low temperatures during the winter. 24. Measurement of shear force, temperature profiles and fibre development in mill-scale TMP refiners
Sammanfattning : Two different force sensors have been developed for tangential forcemeasurements in commercial TMP refiners, one is based on the use of piezoelectricsensors and the other on strain gauges. The measurements are used to learn moreabout the refining mechanism in both single-disc (SD) refiners and conical disc(CD) refiners. LÄS MER
25. Effects of Food Supplementation and Psychosocial Stimulation on Growth and Development of Severely Malnourished Children : Intervention Studies in Bangladesh
Sammanfattning : Early childhood malnutrition is a global public health problem with serious short- and long-term consequences. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the effects of psychosocial stimulation (PS) with or without food supplementation (FS) on growth and development of severely malnourished children, quality of home environment, mother’s child-rearing practices and depressive symptoms.
