  1. 16. Repair and Reconstruction of Peripheral Nerve Injuries. Treatment with G-CSF and Stromal Vascular Fraction

    Författare :Hanna Frost; Malmö Handkirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; peripheral nerve injuries; nerve regeneration; reconstructive surgical procedures; diabetes mellitus; rat sciatic nerve; granulocyte colony-stimulating factor; stromal vascular fraction; electrospinning; rats; Schwann cells;

    Sammanfattning : While surgery is a cornerstone in treatment of peripheral nerve injuries, it is not a comprehensive approach, and outcome is unsatisfactory, especially sensory function. The present aim was to translate recent findings about stem- and progenitor cells to improve regenerative outcome, where the cells have to be autologous, available within the same surgical procedure, and minimally manipulated. 2. 17. Changes in human uterine innervation in term pregnancy and labor occurence and roles of neurotrophins and TRPV1

    Författare :Berith Karlsson Tingåker; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Uterus; corpus uteri; cervix uteri; pregnancy; labor pain; neurotrophins; NGF; TRPV1; sensory corpuscles; human.;

    Sammanfattning : Objective: Cervical ripening, is a prerequisite for successful labor, which is often very painful and involves an inflammatory reaction. However, little is presently known con-cerning nerve-related changes in the human uterus during labor and the fundamental hy-pothesis tested here was that labor pain emanates primarily from the cervix uteri. 3. 18. Transplantation of normal and decellularized syngeneic, allogeneic and xenogeneic cardiac tissue in mice and non-human primates

    Författare :Ketaki Methe; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Decellularization; Cardiac tissue; Syngeneic; Allogeneic; Xenogeneic; Non-human primate;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction Because of the restricted inherent capacity of regeneration and healing, transplantation is the only treatment for end-stage heart failure but it has limitations of donor shortage and graft rejection. Cardiac tissue engineering strategies might help to alleviate this problem. LÄS MER

  4. 19. On the influence of glia on neurite outgrowth from dopamine neurons in the nigrostriatal system

    Författare :Malin Saga Johansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Dopamine; glia; astrocytes; olfactory ensheathing cells; development; ni-grostriatal; mesencephalon; Parkinson s disease; 6-hydroxydopamine;

    Sammanfattning : Interactions between glial cells and neurons are important during fetal development, in the maintenance of the normal functions in tile central nervous system (CNS), arid in response to injuries or diseases. Some of die motor disturbances in Parkinson's disease, a neurodegenerative disorder where one of the hallmarks is degeneration of dopamine (DA) neurons and concomitant depletion of DA in striatum, can be alleviated by intrastriatal grafting of embryonic DA tissue. 5. 20. Clinical and genetic aspects on cluster headache

    Författare :Christina Sjöstrand; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Cluster headache; natural history; familial CH; atypical CH; genetics; association; linkage; gene expression;

    Sammanfattning : Cluster headache (CH), a primary neurovascular headache syndrome, is characterized by recurrent, unilateral, short-lasting attacks of excruciating pain in the temporal region. The pain is considered one of the most severe pain conditions known to humans. LÄS MER
