1. Storage Stability and Phase Separation Behaviour of Polymer-Modified Bitumen : Characterization and Modelling
Sammanfattning : Polymer-modified bitumen (PMB) is a high-performance material for road construction and maintenance. But its storage stability and phase separation behaviour are still not sufficiently understood and need to be studied toward a more successful and sustainable application of PMB. LÄS MER
2. Platelet-lymphocyte cross-talk in atherogenesis : experimental studies on platelet-regulated lymphocyte adhesion and CD4+ T cell activation
Sammanfattning : Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory and thrombotic disease. Platelets and lymphocytes, especially CD4+ T cells, are indispensable players during the initiation and progression of atherosclerotic lesion formation. During the early stage of atherogenesis, lymphocytes are generally thought to be recruited from arterial blood flow. LÄS MER
3. Intermediate Temperature Solid Ionic Conductors and Fuel Cells
Sammanfattning : Novel solid proton conductors based on oxyacid salts and salt-ceramic composites and intermediate temperature fuel cells have been developed in this thesis work. The discovery of proton conduction in these materials introduces a new concept of proton conductors and starts a new research field - Intermediate Temperature Solid Proton Conductors and Fuel Cells. 4. Energy and Design Cost Efficiency for Streaming Applications on Systems-on-Chip
Sammanfattning : With the increasing capacity of today's integrated circuits, a number ofheterogeneous system-on-chip (SoC) architectures in embedded systemshave been proposed. In order to achieve energy and design cost efficientstreaming applications on these systems, new design space explorationframeworks and performance analysis approaches are required. LÄS MER
5. High-Temperature Corrosion-Fatigue of Cast Alloys for Exhaust Manifolds
Sammanfattning : The introduction of gas-driven Otto engine and the corresponding usage of bio-fuels in heavy-duty engines will render the exhaust atmosphere more corrosive and bring a higher working temperature to exhaust manifolds. The current service material, a ferritic ductile cast iron called SiMo51, will soon meet its upper temperature limit set by the ferrite-austenite transformation at 860ºC. LÄS MER
