11. Sputtering and Characterization of Complex Multi-element Coatings
Sammanfattning : The thin film technology is of great importance in modern society and is a key technology in wide spread applications from electronics and solar cells to hard protective coatings on cutting tools and diffusion barriers in food packaging. This thesis deals with various aspects of thin film processing and the aim of the work is twofold; firstly, to obtain a fundamental understanding of the sputter deposition and the reactive sputter deposition processes, and secondly, to evaluate sputter deposition of specific material systems with low friction properties and to improve their performance. 12. On the Formation of Low-Friction Tribofilms in Me-DLC – Steel Sliding Contacts
Sammanfattning : The present thesis thoroughly treats a special friction reduction phenomenon that may appear in boundary lubricated tribological contacts, of the type encountered in numerous mechanical components made of steel. The phenomenon involves the formation of a special type of tribofilm that offers very low coefficients of friction. LÄS MER
13. Understanding Innovation as an Approach to Increasing Customer Value in the Context of the Public Sector
Sammanfattning : We live in a society that is constantly developing. New challenges and new opportunities emerge all the time. Fortunately, human beings have a fantastic ability to adapt and find new solutions in new situations, i.e. LÄS MER
14. Upplysningens ljus i Norrland : Om fyra aktörer vid Härnösands gymnasium under 1700-talet
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this dissertation is to investigate the occurrence of Enlightenment ideas in the central Northern part of Sweden during the 18th century, focussing on a carefully chosen set of characters: one bishop and three senior lecturers at the gymnasium of Härnösand, in the province of Ångermanland. This dissertation uses a perspective of circulation of knowledge, inspired by the research field of history of knowledge. LÄS MER
15. Workpiece steels protecting cutting tools from wear : A study of the effects of alloying elements on material transfer and coating damage mechanisms
Sammanfattning : The vision of this thesis is to improve the machinability of workpiece steels. Workpiece material frequently transfers to the cutting tools during machining, and the transfer layers then forming on the tools may give both good and bad effects on machining performance and tool life.
