1. Carbon Emissions from Western Siberian Inland Waters
Sammanfattning : Inland waters (i.e. rivers, streams, lakes, ponds) emit carbon (C) into the atmosphere. The magnitude of global inland water C emission has been estimated to equal the global ocean C sink, thus making inland waters an important component of the global C cycle. LÄS MER
2. Temporal and spatial variation in the community composition of lake bacterioplankton
Sammanfattning : Bacterioplankton are among the smallest and most abundant organisms in lake ecosystems. Due to the lack of relevant methods, the taxonomic composition of bacterioplankton has been studied less thoroughly than that of larger organisms. LÄS MER
3. Terrestrial response to Dansgaard-Oeschger cycles and Heinrich events : the lacustrine record of Les Echets, south-eastern France
Sammanfattning : Marine Isotope Stage (MIS) 3 was an interval characterized by large and abrupt temperature changes on a millennial time scale, the so-called Dansgaard-Oeschger (DO) cycles and Heinrich events. Evidence for this high-frequency climate variability has been identified in many marine and ice core records. LÄS MER
4. Recombination frequencies in hybrid females of inbred lines of Drosophila melanogaster
Sammanfattning : The intention of the present study was to examine the effect of the maternal genome and cytoplasm, of the attachment of extra heterochromatin of the transposing of heterochromatic regions into euchromatic parts and of temperature shocks during various stages of the development on recombination in Drosophila metanogaster. The access to marker genes along the X-chromosome induced in the inbred line made it possible to examine this array of different conditions in females with an isogenic background. LÄS MER
5. It's complicated: : The role of timing in microbial community coalescence
Sammanfattning : In recent years, the importance of historical contingency has been increasingly recognized in microbial communities. During community coalescence, immigration history, and dispersal history can become decisive for the developing community. LÄS MER
